Zooming though a rocky tunnel,
Faster than those around you,
Control has abandoned you,
And you’ve left the others behind.
You know not the cause
Of this overwhelming race,
Just that is leads you,
And soon it deceives you,
Through a shadowy labyrinth,
And past the damp and drafty
Point of no return.
Screaming has no echo
In this cramped void,
Where walls close in around your spirit,
Walls so rocky and hard,
Cold and wet,
Leaving you wounded
With their rude barges.
Before you in the darkness
Your lover’s eyes appear,
Steady as you know them
Unfaltering in strength
But the warmth has vanished
And no longer do they care,
They are cold and bitter and biting,
Fierce at your despair,
They are accusing and cruel
Boiling the pool
Of your lost emotions,
Initiating the current,
The wild and wicked current
Of the bloody river
That flows through your heart.
Far up in the distance
You can see a reddish glow.
When it bursts forth upon you
Warmth once soothing
Is now hot air that blasts you,
A rumble once booming
Is now noise crashing at you
Once a flame
Now a furnace
The inferno of your fears
Stand before you.
Tongues of fire
Leap at you
Stripping you of identity
Burning your pride
Leaving you helpless
With nowhere to hide
And with a great hiss
There are bubbles and foam
There is an instant of relief
Before the cold stabs you
Icy water everywhere grabs you
There is blue all around you
For you are alone.
The way you are sucked
Is down.
Green leaves turn
To brown.
There is nothing here,
So have no fear,
Nothing here to hurt you
And no one here to help you
All alone you sink
Cold becomes colder
Deep becomes deeper
Your tears only add
To the ocean of your despair
Their saltiness only adds
To your thirst.
The hopelessness has just begun
When blue becomes
Black.
