The Maiden-Rose

My most popular romantic poem. Enjoy.

Hush my little darling, let me sing you a tale
There is a maiden, young and fair
She's just like a rose in a field of thorns
The sweetest of them all
But the sharpest yet; she's the hardest to get
An enchanting smile to match caring eyes
This maiden is as sweet as a rose
I have fallen to her charm, to my alarm
But she'd never want me, plain old me
I make despretate pleas
For her attention
But to no avail
My emotions rain
Down like hail
What I'd do to make her mine,
The rose like maiden
If I could reach out and take
The rose just for me
She's just like a rose,
Beauty and sharpness in all
I wish she were mine
The sweet maiden
Just like a rose
