Another cut across her wrist

This is about how one cut can lead to another. Just, don't cut. Not even once. And this will never happen.

The idea was forming in her head
The notion coming slow but steady
And that very day she picked up a knife
A smiled formed on her lips, she was ready

A single cut, across her wrist
Not too deep, but blood spilled out
She felt the pain, but to her it felt good
She loved the feeling, she didn't shout

Constantly mocked, about her looks
She silently pondered this
Laughed at and ignored
Another cut across her wrist

She thought about her parents
And how she was never enough
She thought she was a disappointment
And added another cut

Tears started falling down her face
She thought that she was weak
Her eyeliner reaching her chin
She cut across her cheek

She remembered how she lost her best friend
How she pleaded, how she begged
She thought of how her friends all left her
A cut, deep across her leg

She looked in the mirror
How she looked bloody, with knife in hand
Why she even wanted to do this
She could never understand

Ah, the last idea that flitted across her mind
Is how she was never smart enough
Her school marks were very low
On her arm, she added one last cut

She thought of her entire being
And how she was always slow
And how she was never pretty
She delivered the final blow

We all could have helped her
But we just sat there and laughed
We thought we weren't doing any harm
We were unaware of her attack

I could have helped her
I could have stood out from the crowd
But knowing that I did nothing
It doesn't make me very proud

I went to her house, to apologize
And then I realized this
Another, another, and another
Another cut across her wrist
