They imbued us with thoughts of peace and splendor
Since they knew our weakness it would render
But they only fend for themselves
Like the books waiting on shelves.
And when I hear the ringing of the bell,
I know that our world has gone to hell.
There is no one for all,
Only "I'll let you fall."
Morals themselves no longer matter,
Lost; among the useless chatter.
And when I hear the ringing of the bell,
I know that our world has gone to hell.
They say safety comes from war
But the booms of guns and cracks of skulls result in bloody gore
Of those who were fighting for trivial things
Like oil, silver, and diamond rings.
And when I hear the ringing of the bell,
I know that our world has gone to hell.
There is no winning in this kind of fight-
The clouds cry rivers and the plants begin to blight-
Because we all lose in this kind of thing
We get ten-times worse than what we were imagining.
And when I hear the ringing of the bell,
I know that our world has gone to hell.
And once the war is dead and gone
We lament our dead and keep on.
Then soon after, our aid they implore
To bring about more sanguinary and mangled cadavers washed ashore.
And when I hear the ringing of the bell,
I know that our world has gone to hell.
