Hear Me
Hear Me A face pressed against the window pane. A barrier stands between you and what you want. tap tap Can you hear me? No one notices. Smiling, laughing, talking Warm fire blazing thud thud Can't you hear me? No one notices. Freezing air, sharp rain Howling winds bang bang Why can't you hear me? Shatter the glass between. Make it fall to the ground. Let them know you exist. Let them know you feel. Let them know you live. BANG BANG Darkness falls bang bang Tears run thud thud Legs crumble tap tap Spirit dies Why can't you hear me? This is supposed to convey that life mocks you and teases you with anything it can. It is meant to show that pain is real and sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you will never get what you desire most, and it will break you. The good news (that poem does not address) is that most of the time we can mend ourselves over time and become new again. You have to remember though that we can't depend on other people to fix us, we have to do that ourselves.
