The Living Tree
A giant bursting from dead, parched earth
Bark cracks as it stretches in the sun
Branches expand the trunk's massive girth
Roots explode into existence
The tree is defiant and refuses to die
Beneath the sandstorms, the lack of water
The merciless land and merciless sky
A majestic silhouette on the flat horizon
Braving the sun and the wind's clutch
A sign of hope, it battle death
Because it loves life so much.
