The Broken Heart

A poem for all those who have ever been hurt in love and loss. You are not alone. Never alone. Words to the wise: This is to you my friend. May you live for a thousand years, and I be there to count the days.

"Heart? Why do you cry?" asked the brain
"I cry, because I am sad." Said the heart. "I am hurt, and I bleed."
"How did you hurt your self?" the brain inquired.
"It was not I who hurt me. It was them." The heart replied.
"And how did they hurt you?" the brain asked.
"They tore me out, and ripped me up, and threw me back to die.
And I wish I could."
"Oh no, you can not die!" Said the brain to the heart.
"We love you to much to let you die."
"Then why do I feel so alone?" the heart demanded.
The brain thought, for that is what it did best, and smiled.
"You are not alone heart. You are never alone.
'We are all here beside you, to help you and feel with you."
"No I am alone." Insisted the heart.
"No you are not." The brain resorted.
"For when you cry, you make the eyes sad, and they cry also.
'The voice cries with you.
'The legs work with the feet to take you away from your sorrows.
'The stomach feels your pain also.
'And remember, that if worse comes to worse,
'We can always ask the arms to please extend,
'And the hand to punch they who hurt, you in the face."
The heart sniffled, and felt, for that is what hearts do best.
The heart could feel everyone with her. And she smiled.
"I can feel you."
The brain laughed. "Of course you can.
'We are always there.
'We are your friends,
'And we are here to help you.
'Remember, you dont have to face it alone,
'And we can help you heal with time."
The heart smiled, and nodded to its self.
"Thank you. All of you."
