You were so alive
so healthy
so strong.
But that day came
and everything went
wrong.
One stupid question
one stupid decision
one stupid thing to do.
No one could of known
it would be the last time
we would see
you.
10 feet of water
one bad swimmer
not one glimpse of the futur
not even a glimmer.
Hearing your calls
and being helpless
nervless
all feelings gone.
Swimming, swimming
not knowing what to
do
reaching outa hand to
grab you.
But you pushed me away
in panic
making my attempts to
help you even more
frantic.
Then it happened
so fast yet so very
slow.
You slipped under the water
to the bottom
below.
We were told to get out
and let the firefighters
in.
I should never have asked you
to go, I knew you couldn't
swim.
Yet you did anyway
was it to show me you
knew what you were
doing?
Never knowing the trouble
that was brewing?
What made me ask you
I may never know
but one thing is for sure
I never wanted you to
go.
