Luxury Of Poetry

Created by hidude10 on Tuesday, January 20, 2009

To have the luxury
Of writing poetry
Of lounging and contemplating philosophy
Of ideally expanding my vocabulary
Spending so much time and energy
On making sure it all rhymes perfectly
But my life is far from perfection
And it's hard to write of the election
Of lost loves and the human connection
When I'm filled with fears no poet ever mentions
Like the fear of the electrical connection
Going disconnected
Or loosing my home and credibility
Bill collectors foreclosing my sanity
With these nights that pass so restlessly
With dreams where no one rescues me
And with all this stress and constant anxiety
God how I wish I had the luxury
O simply writing poetry
