I sighed quietly as I strolled around Konoha’s now vacant streets like I did every morning. It was a hobby of mine, actually. It’s funny how usually Konoha was loud and full of live but in the early hours it was so quiet and peaceful. I bet that if you dropped a pin you could hear it land. I was thankful for that actually – it gave me time to think. Ever since my family moved from the rain village, where we originally lived, here, to Konoha, I had a lot on my mind going. Like the exams for Jounin my mum was pressing me to go even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to pass them. I barely made it out alive when I was taking the Chuunin ones and I was happy being one. My mom says that my father would be even more proud if I became a Jounin and I couldn’t just ignore them, my parents I mean. They were everything to me – they took care of me and were always there as long as I can remember. And there was also the fact that they were the only thing I had. I wasn’t in love with anybody and I’m too plain and quiet for somebody to like me so as you can say I have never had a boyfriend. I had a few friends – Anko, Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma but they were all Jounins and I also knew I could trust Iruka and Naruto but still I felt like part of me was missing.

“Rin? Hey Rin!” My attention snapped to the bubble-gum haired konoichi calling my name.

“O-Oh, hello Sakura I didn’t notice you there” She smiled at me. Sakura was one of the kids I used to teach how to become a medical ninja. She showed such talent that eventually she became Tsunade-sama’s protégée. I was proud of her though.

“Anou, what are you doing here so early?” I looked around and say that I was now at the training grounds.

“I was taking a walk. It gives me time to think before I go back to…life” I whispered quietly.

“Oh, well, I was training…Naruto and I will try and bring Sasuke back” She said proudly though I noticed the hurt behind her voice. She really did love this boy. I wish I had someone that cared about me like she cared about him. It would be nice…

“Great. I wish you luck and…try not to get hurt alright?” She nodded still smiling and we went our separate ways. I started walking back to my house that was actually situated in the woods. I decided that since I was 24 I needed to move out of my parents’ house and start living on my own. There was also the fact that it was more peaceful here, in the forest. I never did like crowded places anyway. I was almost to my house when I heard a low grunt come from somewhere near the bushes. I may be quiet but I was curious as well so I went to check it out. I peeked through the bushes and there, leaning against one of the trees on the meadow, was a man, I guess. He was wearing a black and red cloak but what caught my attention was the straw hat, covering his face. I then noticed something that made me inhale sharply and apparently he noticed me because his head immediately snapped in my direction and I could only see his red eyes, glaring at my small form. I debated over if it was smart to go and try to help this person or leave him there, to bleed to death. I decided to do the first one. Oh, did I forget to mention that there was a huge wound on his hand. How did I know this? The blood dripped from the cloak and made a small puddle on the ground. I bit my lip and cautiously made my way to the person. Even though I’m not the best ninja, I saw how he swiftly got out a kunai but hid it under the sleeve of his cloak.

“Look I’m here to help” He just glared at me harder.

“I don’t need your help” He made an emphasis on ‘your’. Seems like I was talking with a nice gentleman here.

“I-I…I’m sorry I just…Let me just fix your arm and I’ll leave you alone” I muttered quietly but just enough for him to hear. He seemed to hesitate a bit but then his eyes glanced at his injure and then at me as he reluctantly got up and walked over to me. Still watching me closely he held out his hand as I shook my head slowly.

“You’ll have to remove your cloak”

“What?” He seethed, obviously not liking the idea.

“I’m sorry but I won’t be able to heal it properly and it may become worse” The only thing that became worse at the moment was his angry glare set upon me. He slowly untied his cloak and his hat fell on the ground as well. I held back a gasp. And I though he would be ugly and that would be the reason he was hiding his face. Instead, in front f me stood a piece of perfection. Long black hair, tied back, and his body was just…I tried to snap out of it as soon as possible but it seemed he noticed my staring because he was smirking lightly now. He held his hand for me and my eyes widened again as I saw the wound. It was obviously done by a kunai or a sword that had gotten was too deep for anybody’s liking. Except for the attacker’s I guess. I silently concentrated my chakra into my hands as a green glow erupted from them and started to heal the wound. We stood in a quiet and surprisingly calm atmosphere as he dropped his glare and was now watching as I treated his arm. Soon enough I was done and it looked okay now.

“It’ll leave a small mark though.” He nodded and slipped his cloak on, now the blood was dry. He turned around to leave but then stopped and slightly turned his head in my direction.

“What’s your name?” His voice was smooth and cool but demanding as well. I blushed.

“R-Rin Jade” He smirked again, liking the effect he was having on me.

“I’m Itachi Uchiha” And with that he vanished.

Surprisingly, that wasn’t the last time I saw him, which I was kind of happy for. When I was with him it felt like this part that was missing something didn’t even exist. I grew to love him even though I knew of his past and what he was doing now. He didn’t judge me and was a real friend. But I knew I wanted more. And one day…

--

“You know you actually have talent if you concentrate for long enough” He said as I breathed in and out slowly, trying to even my breathing after the training session.

“You really think so?” I asked in a small voice, my blush visible. In a blink of an eye Itachi was in front of me.

“Yes, I do” And with that his lips were on mine.

--

From that day on we were inseparable and I even went to live with him in the Akatsuki headquarters even though I was against their violence ways. But that didn’t get between Itachi and I because I knew I loved him and even though I was the peacemaker while he was an S-ranked criminal…Opposites attract, I guess…
