Breathe-Gaara and Kichigai Forever
Chapter 6-AdmittanceThey met on the roof again the next night. Kichigai shivered more than usual, and the moon still shone down on her, and it was still full. It had been full for the past week. Gaara kneeled beside Kichigai.
"Good morning, Kichigai," he said quietly, as they met at midnight.
"G-Good morning...Gaara..." she replied, pulling the comforter she had brought up to teh roof with her closer to herself, shivering. "You're cold again?"
She nodded, her breath shaking as it puffed out like fog in the cold night air.
"It there anything I can do?"
"No...I don't think there is..."
"Do you want to tell me why you are always depressed?"
"I don't know why..."
"Is it because of your mother?"
"I think it's because of a lot of things."
"Well...do you ever feel like you can cry in front of anyone? You need to let people in..."
She looked down.
"No."
"Why?"
"Because when I cry, I feel weak...that's why I never cry in front of anyone...ever since my mom died..."
"You miss her..."
"So much...I don't understand how I am so cursed...but I do...kind of...want to...cry in front of..."
"Who?"
She looked up at the sky.
"You..."
He got closer to her, his nose nearly touching hers.
"I love you..." he whispered, and his lips pressed against hers. She smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I love you, too!"
She looked up and saw a figure in the distance with silky brown hair flowing in the wind. She stood up and pulled Gaara up.
"Mom?!" she cried out smiling. "Gaara! T-That's my mom! That's Ameno! Come on!" She laughed, smiling. Gaara smiled to as they ran to her.
"Mom I can't believe it's you! You remember Gaara, right? I just can't believe this! This is so-"
Her mother's head turned around and looked strait at them.
"You're next!" the fake mother hissed, her lips curling into a smile as blood poured through, then the body fell to the floor, dead. Kichigai screamed and turned to run into Gaara's arms...but the Gaara she looked at, who held his arms out to her, was made of sand. She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him, but he began to fade away, no matter how tight she held. Sand surrounded her and faded just as quickly, leaving her family's dead bodies all behind. They all rose up like puppets, and hissed,
"You're next..."
Thousands of kunai flew at her, piercing through her body, making the life drain out of her, her blood drain out like a living collender.
She screamed. All she could do is scream...
"Kichigai?!" she heard call her name as her cousin, Kazeno ran in. He saw her tossing in her sleep and he gently placed a hand on her cheek, causing her to open her eyes.
"Kichigai, you were having a nightmare..."
"Where's Gaara?! Where's Mom?! How are you alive?! Where is everything?!"
"Calm down! Konan is asleep, and Gaara's probably at home. Why do you ask?"
Her breaths came out shakily and Kazeno handed her inhaler.
"I-I wasn't t-talking about Konan..."
"Ameno? Kichigai...she's been dead for six years..."
"I-It was a nightmare?"
"Yeah...you wanna talk about it?"
"N-" she thought about what Gaara had said about her never letting anyone in. "O-okay...but please don't laugh," she said, gripping her pillow tight.
"I wouldn't dream of it," he replied, pushing her hair out of her face.
She took a gulp of air and began telling him about her meeting Gaara the past few nights on the roof before having the nightmare, then how the nightmare started, then seeing Mom, then everyone dying, and then her being stabbed and not dying, just bleeding constantly.
He nodded.
"So...you and Gaara have talked on the roof the past few nights? What did you talk about?"
"How I never let anyone in."
"Oh..."
"But...I'm scared..."
"Scared of what?"
"To let someone in. When I let them in, and they go out...it hurts..."
Kazeno closed his eyes and nodded.
"So...you think it's better to be lonely, then to hurt?"
"Ye-well...they both hurt."
"Which hurts more?"
"Being alone."
"That's what I thought..." he replied with a smile, hugging his young cousin.
"Thanks, Kazeno..."
"No problem, Kichi-chan..." he stood up, smiling. He turned off the light as he began to walk out. "You're gonna be okay?"
She nodded.
"Goodnight, Kazeno."
"Night, Kichigai."
