Beth P.O.V.

"Do you know what this means?!"

I blankly stared at a random space, biting my lip and smiling as I thought of Cole.

"Hello? Beth?" Ashley whined, waving a hand in front of my face.

"Huh?" I asked, confused, finally looking at her.

"Focus! God, I was asking if you knew that Cole broke up with Samantha," she said obviously, raising her eyebrows and opening her mouth.

"Oh yeah, I heard," I stated, smiling to myself.

"Did you know that she cried?" she asked.

Yes.

"No,"

"Do you know why he did it?" she continued.

Yes.

"No,"

Ashley just shook her head while rolling her eyes. "Beth, you're so slow. Soon enough, you're going to be a social hazard," she snipped, twirling her hair.

I raised my eyebrows, "Because I'm not nosy?" I retorted.

Ashley rolled her eyes once again, "Whatever. Well, Cole is officially single now," she smiled.

Wrong.

"Which means that I have the chance to move in, and what I've got planned for him- no one can resist," she smiled deviously.

I clenched my teeth and noticed that the pencil in my hand was now broken.

I shoved my pencil aside and covered my expression, "And what exactly is that?" I asked, looking at my desk.

I could almost sense her ego growing next to me.

"Well, let's just say it involves me in a bathing suit.. and a lot of kissing," she snickered.

My teeth ground on top of each other as I clenched my jaw. I said the only thing I could come up with, "Well, Ash, you're probably not the only girl that will be trying to sink your claw- I mean, hands into him," I confessed, looking at her.

Ashley contemplated this for a moment.

"Well, I'll probably be the most willing, and when a girl is hot and willing, guys like it," she commented.

Wow.

Okay.

I just shook my head and ignored her response.

Vince shifted uncomfortably beside me, grunting and rubbing his forehead. I turned to him and met the pained expression on his face.

"What's wrong, Vince?" I asked, a friendly worry growing in my chest.

He looked angry for a second, then covered it with an annoyed expression. "Just so much work, you know?" he explained, gesturing to his notebook. I nodded my head in agreement.

"What are you guys talking about?" he said, trying to spark a conversation.

I rolled my eyes. "Ashley here wants to seduce Cole Johnathan," I chuckled, even though the words burned my throat.

Vince's eyes narrowed for a moment, and his cheeks grew red. "I don't think that's possible, it's probably already been done," he spat, almost a double meaning to his words. He clenched his jaw and looked away from me, swallowing hard.

Then he sharply turned towards me again, "So, Beth. Anything new happen lately? Something you want to get off of your chest?" He asked, leaning closer in a aggressive way.

I felt my breath catch in my throat as I tried to search for an answer.

Did he know?

Almost like clockwork, the bell sounded through the class, cutting me off from Vince.

"I gotta go," I smiled to him, gathering my books and hurrying out into the hall.

My mind was frying. It had seemed like Vince knew, but he can't.

There's no way.

I felt my heart beat faster and faster as I passed through the crowds of scattering freshmen, still desperate after two months of school to get to class early.

I was in my panic daze when I felt a strong hand grab my wrist and yank me sideways into a room.

Cole closed the janitor closet door behind him and flipped the light switch, a big smile on his face. The dim bulb flickered, providing as much light as a lone candle would. I could barely see his features, but nonetheless I found his cheek with my fingers.

He smiled and cradled my face in his hands, something that he seemed to do often, and kissed me. I leaned back against the wall, knocking down some cleaning supplies in the process, and wrapped my arms around him.

His hands slid down my neck as he kissed me, and continued down to my waist, pulling me closer to him.

All my worries of Vince knowing melted away. Heck, most of my mind was turned into mush by his touch. His kiss seemed to wash away all of my worries, and every time he twirled my hair, my heart seemed to jump in place.

I sighed into the kiss, my hands now deeply twined with his hair.

I relished the thought that he was mine, not Samantha's or Ashley's, but mine. I know I may seem possessive, but why not be happy about being happy?

His hands traveled down my sides as I came back to reality; the bell was going to ring soon.

Almost regrettably, I pulled away, leaving him with a confused and hurt expression on his face.

"The bell's going to ring soon," I whispered, a smile creeping onto my face as I played with his hair.

Rebellion flashed in his eyes as he reached for me, "Let it ring," he whispered.

I kissed him for a short moment, then untangled myself from our embrace, closing my hand around the door handle.

I turned back to him, flashing a smile, "See you later," I said flirtatiously.

Did I just flirt?

I don't even know how to flirt.

I licked my lips, pushing myself to see how far I could go with this. His expression grew serious, and he walked closer to me, putting his hands on my waist.

I bit my lip as he closed in on my face, then put a finger on his lips before they touched mine.

I don't know how I learned this, or where I get it from, but it seems to work. His body his frozen and his eyes are hungry.

"Bye Cole," I smile, pulling my finger away from his lips and opening the door.

The look on his face was priceless.

An accomplished smile creeps on my face as I walk towards my class, my cheeks still heated from my encounter with Cole.

Maybe I could compete with Samantha, Ashley, and every other girl yearning for Cole in this school.

*******

Cole P.O.V.

Ring, bell, ring!

This was torture.

I smashed my face in my desk as the last few minutes of Ms. Pederson's class went on. Samantha was across the room, probably still trying to give me 'sexy' looks.

So far ignoring her had been like ignoring a burning house. Impossible.

I need to see Beth, before I go crazy. But then again, it's probably too late for that.

The memory of her in the janitor's closet this morning flashed through my mind, bringing my emotions back in a tsunami that flooded my thoughts. I remembered the way she had teased me, left me wanting more, and strangely... I liked it.

Usually when girls did that it annoyed me, but now that a girl I actually liked did it, it was captivating.

It was amazing: the feeling that Beth was mine.

This beautiful, witty, sarcastic, smart, sexy and unbearably forbidden girl was mine.

The bell finally rang, sending me into a hectic frenzy so I could find Beth. Rising from my seat, I picked up my books and tried hastily to exit the classroom, but sadly, Samantha was waiting for me by the door.

"Cole," she pleaded, grabbing my arm and pulling me aside.

"Yeah?" I asked, looking at her then looking out the door for Beth.

"Um.. I know we broke up a few days ago. And, well, I was wondering why," she explained, looking at me nervously.

I looked at her and froze. What was my excuse?

"Well, I just.. don't see you in that way anymore," I shrugged, trying to be nice.

She stepped forward and touched my hair, a look crossing her eyes. I stepped back away from her touch; this was uncomfortable.

"Cole, how can you stop liking me? It has to be something... or someone," she concluded, crossing her arms across her chest.

I covered my nervous expression with a smile.

"There's no one," I lied.

"Cole, we both know there's someone else, so just admit it," she pressed, her cheeks growing red from anger.

"No, there's not," I said, no emotion in my voice or on my face. She backed away, an annoyed expression crossing her features.

"Well, just to let you know, I hooked up with Brian last night," She boasted.

I don't need this.

I smiled and shook my head, heading towards the door.

"That's great for you, Samantha," I said, turning towards the hallway.

"And we did it!" she continued, trying to grab my attention behind me.

"Awesome, hope you used protection," I retorted, crossing into the empty hallway. She just followed me.

"Well, he was probably better than you would have been," she insulted, still staggering behind me. The halls were now mostly clear as I headed for the locker room.

"Yeah, whatever you say," I said, my attention on finding Beth.

I heard her huff loudly and stop trailing behind me.

My legs carried me into the locker room where the other guys were getting ready while my mind wandered over to Beth.

The team, ready before me, exited out onto the field while I peeled off my shirt and opened my bag, reaching for my shoulder pads and undershirt.

A small, folded piece of paper fell out of the front pocket, floating onto the floor.

I reached down and opened it cautiously, looking around to see if anyone was watching.

STAY AWAY FROM BETH HARRINGTON.

I stared at the paper, not recognizing the hand writing, but not needing to. I gulped and read the words over and over again, trying to collect my thoughts.

Someone knew.

But... how?

Images crossed through my mind of Will finding out, Samantha finding out, and the whole school finding out. In it, everyone was looking at me, disgusted expressions on their faces while they examined me.

I shook my head, hoping to clear it, and tucked the note back into my bag, shoving it under my school clothes.

After getting dressed, I sprinted outside into the cool Fall air, observing my team who was huddled around Coach, hearing his orders.

I felt someone grab and squeeze my hand behind me, then let go just as quickly as they grabbed on.

I turned around and smirked at Beth, who was walking by with a smile plastered to her face.

Her hair was back in a loose braid again, outlining her heart-shaped face. She had changed out of her skirt and into running shorts, which showed off her toned legs...

"Cole!" Coach shouted at me from the huddle.

I looked away from Beth and sprinted towards them, my mind still electrified.

*******

"Someone knows," I whispered, breaking Beth and I's kiss.

We were both still breathing heavily, our arms wrapped around each other, as her expression formed into to pure panic. I let my hand guide from her hair and down to stroke her cheek. Even with this war raging inside my head, my feelings for Beth never subsided.

"How?" she whispered, her face still only a few inches away from mine.

We were laying, as usual, in our secret place at Liberty Park. I let my lips travel along her forehead, across her eyelids, and trail down her cheek, stopping just before I reached her mouth.

"I don't know," I whispered against her lips.

I pulled away for a moment, sitting up and rubbing my face. She sat up with me, rubbing my back reassuringly. I began to pull dead grass that lay by my leg. Her fingers trailed up my spine and into my hair, where she moved her fingers in a massaging motion.

After she had worked out the knots in my neck, I leaned over and kissed her lightly on the lips.

"Thank you," I whispered, stroking her hair and looking into her eyes.

I looked away and sighed, "Someone put a piece of paper in my bag today. It said: Stay away from Beth Harrington," I admitted looking down at the weeds and sticks.

"Oh...wow," is all she said.

"What are we going to do?" she asked frantically.

"I don't know."

I dug my hand in my pocket, reaching for my phone and checking the time. I sighed in frustration; my time with Beth was so limited. Beth caught my gesture and reached for her shoes that were laying on the ground next to us.

I turned to her before we left, "Beth... Well, I was wondering if.. this Saturday you wanted to go to Planet Hollywood with me," I asked, almost sounding nervous.

"The one in New York?" she asked, looking up at me.

"Yeah," I smiled.

"Like a date?" she asked with a smile.

"Yes, like a date," I replied, picking up one of her hands and pressing my palm against hers. She twined our fingers together and looked into my eyes.

"I'd love to," she smiled.

*******

Beth P.O.V.

What do you wear on a date?

I had been staring at my closet for 30 minutes straight. This is impossible; I was meeting Cole in an hour.

Dad and Will both thought that I was going to Ashley's tonight, but instead, I was meeting Cole at Liberty Park and we were driving to New York. I don't know how well this would work out, considering that if Dad called Ashley, I would be toast.

I finally resorted to a blue bohemian-style blouse that I had never wore and some regular jeans. My hair was down and straight, flowing down my shoulders and chest.

I decided to keep my face make-up free, as usual, to void any suspicion that I was not going to Ashley's tonight.

I grabbed my bag, that was supposed to be filled with clothes for a sleepover, and exited out into the hallway and towards the door.

"Dad! I'm going to Ashley's!" I yelled, just before I opened the door.

"Have fun!" he yelled from his room.

Opening the door, I crossed out onto our yard and hastily ran towards Liberty Park, desperate to get to Cole. As I was leaving the house, I noticed that Will's car was gone.

I smiled wide when I was in walking distance from Cole's car.

He had on a black collar shirt with jeans, his hair ruffled and wet from a recent shower. A natural blush showed on his cheeks as he checked his phone, making my heart beat faster.

He looked up and met my gaze as I crossed the street to the park.

He smiled wide, his eyes brightening once he saw me. I saw him examine my outfit, then look back up at my face. Once I reached him, he pulled me to him by my waist.

"You look beautiful," he said, kissing me.

"Thanks," I smiled, feeling dumb for not having a better reply.

He pulled me closer for another short kiss, and then we were off to New York.

Cole P.O.V.

Ten minutes later, after crossing through the Lincoln Tunnel, we drove towards Time Square, hitting the hard Saturday New York traffic on the way.

Finally we reached a place where we could park and walk towards Planet Hollywood.

I looked over at Beth who was wearing a blouse that was very flattering on her figure. I'm not going to go into details, but let's just say it looked a lot better than Johnston High's standard uniform. The deep blue highlighted her eyes in a way that hypnotized me.

After I successfully averted my eyes away from Beth, I grabbed her hand and began walking with her through the crowds of people, the advertisements and buildings all around us. Times Square was more enthusiastic than usual, almost as if it was specially made for Beth and I.

Walking past people, I noticed some guys my age checking Beth out from a distance.

My possessive side took over my mind as I shot them death glares and pulled Beth closer to me. Once their eyes looked over at my face, then traveled to where my arm was wrapped tightly around her, they shied away and looked for some other hot girl to check out.

I never really thought of how attractive Beth would be to other people.

All I saw was how attractive she was to me, and now that we were outside of the school walls, I saw her effect on other boys too.

Just imagine what would happen if she put make-up on, not that she needed it.

We finally reached Planet Hollywood and entered into the huge, well-known restaurant. Music was playing and lights were flashing, as well as the loud chatter of people. I went up to the counter and confirmed my reservation.

"Cole Johnathan," I said to the hostess, my hand still attached to Beth's.

She looked at me, then Beth. "Is it just you and your wife tonight?" she asked, smiling and gathering our menus.

I felt Beth stiffen beside me. I just smiled, "Yeah it's just me and my.. um... wife," I answered.

"Right this way," she smiled, then guided us up the stairs and into the main dining area, where screens lined the dark room.

After we were seated, I took an opportunity to joke around with Beth. "So, Mrs. Johnathan, how do you like the place?" I smiled, stroking her hair.

She raised her eyebrows and smiled, "Do I seriously look like I could be a wife? I mean, I look like a teenager, right?" she laughed.

"Not in that outfit," I commented, it coming out more lustful than I intended.

I saw her blush in the dim light and leaned forward to kiss her.

It scared me how well Beth Johnathan sounded in my ears. I was getting a little carried away here.

We kept on kissing, not noting the people around us or the blasting music. I trailed my lips from her mouth and down her chin, kissing her neck. She encouraged me by grabbing my hair with her hands, both of us forgetting we were in a restaurant.

Then she froze.

"Oh my god," she said, pulling her hands from my hair.

I was too preoccupied with kissing her neck to notice her change in mood.

"Cole," she said urgently.

I stopped kissing her neck and looked up at her, "Yeah?" I asked.

She wasn't looking at me, instead her eyes were wide and she was looking at a point behind me. I saw her gulp.

"Look behind you," is all she said.

Slowly, I turned my head to see what she was staring at. I felt my breath catch in my throat.

Will and Candy were sitting just across the room.
