Long Time No See ~ Ichigo Kurosaki One-Shot for devilsblackrose66 ~
Wow. I had it written an posted all in one day. Of course, I was bored and had nothing else to do. Still taking requests!Name: Monika Hamasaki
Age: 17
Personality: Quiet when you first meet her, but once she gets to know you, she loosens up. You'll find out she's actually outgoing, fun(ny), intelligent, fiercely loyal, caring, and a bit of a perv.
Family: Keitaro (14, bro); Tsukiko (mother, 38); Isao (father, 40)
Past: She was raised in Karakura from birth until she was eight years old, and her family was really good friends with Ichigo's. But when she turned eight she had to move to America. She has just moved back to Karakura and is protecting spirits by defeating Hollows, but doesn't know about shinigami and Ichigo since they haven't been reunited.
She's a human with powers. Unlike strength or healing abilities like Orihime and Chad, her powers are different. She always enjoyed singing when she was a child and as the years grew on her voice got more powerful. Living in Karakura Town heightened her spiritual powers and awareness, so that her voice works on a spiritual level (they say that you sing from your soul, right?). She uses a microphone or a musical instrument to channel her spiritual energy and create attacks from the large amount of reiatsu she has stored within her body. The microphone she uses most of the time amplifies her voice, and her singing is so sharp that it can pierce through skin and organs, tissue, as well as confuse or stun the enemy with a simple pitch switch. Songu no Kokoro to Konpaku is what the ability is called.
Appearance:
'Nine years... And it's just the same as I remember it' Monika thought as they pulled into the driveway of their new home. She stepped out of the car, taking in all of the familiar sights and sounds, not snapping out of her daze until her brother spoke. "You wanna help with the luggage? Most of it's yours anyway. Useless crap". Monika shot him a glare, before walking to the trunk of the car, and grabbing two of her suitcases and a bag that she swung over her shoulder. She stepped into the new house. "It's not the same, but it's closer to home than America came even close too" she whispered to herself. Her brother had already found the only room besides their parents, and she was forced to take the attic. Monika didn't mind, it gave her a better view of Karakura from the window. After getting most of her stuff set up, she walked downstairs. "We're going shopping for groceries. Wanna tag along, or do you want to explore Karakura to see what's changed?" her father asked. Her face brightened "You're going to let me go out on my own?" Monika asked. "Yeah. It's been awhile since you've gotten to see this town" Her mom added with a smile on her face. "Can I go too? Please!" Keitaro begged. "Would you mind him tagging along? It'll be cheaper without him wanting to through extra things onto the bill" her dad asked. "Why not?" Monika sighed out.
Monika and Keitaro left a few minutes after their parents, and began adventuring what Karakura had become. Many things had changed, but she still remembered everything that was the same as if it were yesterday. She kept her eyes aware for any signs of bright orange hair, but didn't seem to catch a glance of such a thing. She rose up on her tip toes to see over the crowd, but she still saw no sign of him. "What are you doing?" her brother asked. "I'm looking for Ichigo" she replied. "Oh. That guy you told me about. Do you think he still lives around here?" he asked. "I'm sure of it. They owned a business around here, they wouldn't have just left" Monika replied. After adventuring around the town for awhile, they headed home. On the way back, Monika had her first encounter with a hollow... And her first encounter with Ichigo, in the past nine years. Monika was cut off mid sentence in a conversation with her brother, when she looked up, and saw a huge, hideous creature devouring a man in the middle of the road. Monika froze. "What's wrong?" Keitaro asked. "What do you mean what's wrong?! Look in front of you!" Monika said, but not to loud, not wanting to be seen. She pointed at the monster, but her brother looked at her, puzzled. "Are you feeling okay?" he asked. "But it's right there, and it's eating someone!" Monika told her brother, voice quivering. "I think you need to lay down and rest, because there isn't anything there". On that note, it turned, and locked it's sight on Monika. It started making its way toward them. "Run!!" she shouted at her brother, while grabbing his lower arm, and dragging him with her. "What are we even running from?!" he shouted. "That thing!!" she replied. The hollow caught up, and knocked Monika across the ground. Her brother stood terrified. "What just happened?!" he asked. "It was the thing that apparently doesn't exist! Now run!!" she yelled. He turned and started running back towards their home. "Mmmm... Such strong spiritual energy... A good main course" the thing growled out. Monika's eyes widened, realizing it planned on eating her like it had that other man. She statred backing up across the ground, before jumping to her feet. "Stay away from me!!" She shouted. The hollow launched at her, landing heavily on top of her. Monika screamed loudly, and that's when a blade sliced through the hollow's head, causing it to disappear. Monika was shaking, when she sat up, to see her rescuer. It was none other than Ichigo. "Long time no see... Monika" Ichigo said. Monika jumped up, before launcing herself on him, glomping him to the ground. "Iiiiiichiiiiiigoooo!!!" She shrieked on impact. "You saved me from that thing!" Monika said, hugging him tightly. "That thing was a hollow. And now I see why it attacked you. Your spiritual pressure is amazing. It probably thought you were a soul reaper. Which means you're like I was, a human that can see spirits and hollows. I was as confused as you were, but I'll fill you in on that later. Right now, we need to get these scratches cleaned up" Ichigo said, before helping her up, and going to his house.
"Monika! It's beem awhile, hasn't it?" Ichigo's dad said, hugging her. "Yeah, it has" she replied. "What happened to you?" he asked, looking at the scratches. Monika opened her mouth to tell him, but Ichigo cut her off. "She tripped" he said quickly. Monika was confused as to why he didn't tell him the truth, but she knew he must have good reason. After catching up with the Ichigo's family, he walked her home. "It's good to see you again Monika" Ichigo said. "You too" Monika replied. "Mind if I stop over sometime tommorow?" Ichigo asked. "No, not at all. Any time is fine with me, I don't have anywhere to go" Monika answered. "Cool. See ya then, I guess". And with that, he turned and left.
Next day came about, and sure enough, Ichigo was on her dorrstep around 1:00. She let him in, and her parents hugged him. "It's been awhile Ichigo! You and your family should stop over sometime tommorow to catch up" Monika's mom said, while hugging him. "Yeah. I'll have to let my dad know, I'm sure he won't pass up on an offer to get away from work" Ichigo said, smiling. Monika and Ichigo trekked up to her room, where they sat down, and talked. "Oh. I almost forgot, I have something for you. A welcome back gift" he said, before reaching into the bag that was hanging on his back. He pulled out a rectangular box, with a horrible wrapping job, and handed it to her. "Just as bad with wrapping paper as when we were young, I see" Monika joked. Ichigo scoffed, but there was playful smile tugging on his lips. "Wrapping gifts is a very difficult thing for me to grasp" Ichigo replied. "So, you can kill those huge hollow watchamacallits, yet you can't wrap a gift? You never cease to amaze me, Ichigo" Monika sighed out. "Glad I amuse you" he shot back, laughing slightly. Monika teared the shimmering gold paper off, and opened the box, to reveal a small silver coated flute. "I don't know if you're still into music like you were before you left, but I saw it, and just had to get it for you" Ichigo said, rubbing the back of his head nervously. "Ichigo... It's beautiful... I love it!" She said, throwing her arms around him, in a tight hug. Ichigo hugged back. "Anything for my best friend" he said, mid hug. She picked the flute up, and started playing it, just like she had whenever she was eight years old. "The music still sounds as beautiful as when we were young. I really missed hearing you play, you know that?" Ichigo asked. "Well, I really missed you" Monika said, grinning a smile so big, that it covered the entire lower half of her face. Monika started playing again, a soft beautiful melody flowing from the small silvery instrument. Ichigo received an order from the soul society, saying that a hollow had just appeared, right outside Monika's house. Ichigo opened the window, and saw the hollow right in her backyard. Ichigo went into his soul reaper form, and Monika noticed instantly. She stopped playing, and the hollow started moving. Ichigo replied, "Nothing's wrong, just keep playing Monika." The soft melody once again filled the room, and floated out her open window. The second it reached the hollows' ears, it stood rigid in place. "Keep playing Monika." Ichigo ordered. 'That's odd... Her spiritual pressure comes through when she plays her flute, and it seems to paralyze the hollow... Not going to waste an opportunity like this!' Ichigo thought, before hopping out the window, and slicing the hollow down the center of it's head, killing it in one blow. Monika stopped playing, and Ichigo hopped back into her room. Ichigo was smiling. "I wondered why a human would have such a high spiritual pressure, and have no way to release it, but it releases when you play music. Which means you must have some kind of ability as well!" Ichigo said. "And what does this mean?" Monika questioned. "It means that you have the ability to kill hollows" Ichigo answered simply. "Those huge monster things, that one almost killed me yesterday. I can kill them on my own?" Monika asked. Ichigo nodded his head. "I think you need to pay a visit to the Soul Society" Ichigo said.
1 Year Later...
"Songu no Kokoro to Konpaku!" Monika shouted, a silvery whip lashing out at the hollow in front of her, slicing it down the center of it's head, killing it in an instant. Monika has been fighting hollows for about 8 months now, and she had become quite good at it. She didn't even need Ichigo's help anymore. Then, the Arrancar invaded Karakura town, wreaking havoc, and putting lives in danger. Ichigo was unfortunate enough to have to fight Grimmjow, while Monika was stuck fighting another, away from Ichigo's side. The entire time, her mind was clouded with worries of Ichigo's safety, Rukia's as well. Monika knew she was in love with Ichigo, just didn't know how to put into words, and tell him. Rukia knew of her secret, and tried to tell her to just tell him already, but she was too scared. Scared of being rejected. Being to busy with thinking about Ichigo, she was hit with the Arrancar's attack, knocking her to the ground. Monika's strength was all used up, she didn't even have enough energy to move from where she was kncoked down too. She was waiting for the final blow, but it never came. But she did remember a streak of black and bright orange interrupt the Arrancar's attack. "Ichi..go..." she whispered before everthing went black.
Monika's eyes fluttered open, and she squinted at the bright lights in her face. She realized that she was in the Soul Society's infirmary, and she began to wonder exactly how long she was unconcious. She turned her head, and saw Ichigo sitting next to her, his head buried in his hands, and he was muttering things like "It's all my fault. I left her to fight an opponent that she wasn't even a match for". Monika smiled, Ichigo was being to hard on himself, just like she remember he had been ever since she had met him. "Ichigo. It wasn't your fault. I told you that I could handle it" Monika whispered, making Ichigo snap his attention to her. "You're all right" he said, lunging forward, hugging her. She hugged back, wincing a little in pain from the unhealed battle injuries. "Sorry" Ichigo muttered, realizing that she had winced. "It's alright. I don't mind" she said, hugging him again. "I don't know what I would have done if he had killed you" Ichigo muttered. "Why do you care so much?" Monika asked. Ichigo shook his head. "It still isn't clear to you? It's because I love you Monika. I love you and would die for you" Ichigo said. Monika gasped. "Wh-what?" she whispered. Ichigo smiled again, before pressing his lips lightly to hers. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him harder. He pulled away smiling. "I love you too Ichigo" Monika said. Ichigo smiled, and kissed her on the forehead. "I should get hurt more often, if this is what my treatment is going to be" Monika joked. Ichigo smiled. "I won't let you get hurt again... But you can expect a lot more of your "Treatment". Monika smiled, before falling back asleep again, where dreams of Ichigo awaited her...
