The Funeral Program Site is a good resource to get help in creating and designing a funeral program booklet. There is also a large variety funeral programs and funeral resources to assist you.
Depending on the kind of ceremony you have chosen, the format of a funeral service program will change. Should the ceremony be religious, there are conventional additions to the program that are appropriate. To ensure that the program is appropriate, it is wise to consult a pastor, clergy, or other religious denomination personnel for the correct order of service. For example, the Catholic faith has a very traditional funeral mass that includes a visitation (or viewing of the body), funeral mass with communion and graveside service.
Participation is highly emphasized during the worship of a traditional Catholic service. The lyrics should be readily available for those who are not familiar with the songs; one of the most effective ways of doing this is including the lyrics in the funeral program, so that everyone is given the chance to participate.
Most funeral order of service programs begins with prelude music and an entrance hymn or song. For words of hope, encouragement, and compassion, a religious text may be read either by a family member or close friend following the entrance music of the service. Should a message not be available, a eulogy is perfectly acceptable. If the funeral program order of service is not of a religious affiliation, songs and other types of readings can be given. Either an officiant or close friend may perform a reading or make a speech.
There may be a time of reminiscing so that a period of reflection for the deceased can occur. Consider a visual slideshow to remember your loved one with a video. This video could include photographs spanning the life of your loved one.
A video tribute is a meaningful, moving means of displaying the treasured life of your loved one. If you do not have the technological means or time to organize a slideshow, you could also set up a memorial table. A memorial table displays photos of your loved in as simple as a frame to more elaborate scrapbook type displays. Much like a collage, a memorial table is a portrait of photographs of your loved one throughout life.
In the memorial program, people may present photographs of the recently departed. Because attendees may take this program home with them, they may have a constant reminder of the dear life and character of your loved one.
