Ahh, the 4th of July. The BBQ was held at the park. Teachers and parents prepared the food and games. Kids sat at the benches chatting, eating, and laughing.
"Do you see them?"
"No Naruto, do you?" Kiyo asked, dressed in blue jeans and a red shirt with white design.
"I can't find them." Naruto sighed, dressed in a two piece outfit of the American flag.
"Oh! There they are Kiyo. Gaara! Katsuko!" He called out and waved.
"Yo." Gaara simply said, walking up to them with Katsuko. He had half a hotdog in his hand.
"Katsuko…no red, white or blue? You too Gaara?" Kiyo asked disappointed,
"You're lucky I came." Katsuko sighed.
"Same here. I'm not a fan of silly traditions. I'm just here for the food." Gaara shrugged.
"Yeah but you're wearing black jeans and a purple shirt. And yellow Katsuko? You guys suck." She smiled.
"Hm, it is what it is." Katsuko smirked.
"Common. Let's play a game. I wonder if that sack race thing started." Naruto said and started off.
"I'll meet you guys there. I wanna get a burger or something." Katsuko said and left. Gaara and Kiyo followed Naruto.
"Oh Katsuko, good to see you." Kakashi smiled.
"What are you doing here?" She asked.
"Making hotdogs. It's feels good to volunteer. I'm a great cook." He said proudly.
"You finished all your books and had nothing to do right?" She asked, and cocked an eyebrow.
"Yes…" He sighed. "Here, enjoy." He gave her a dog. She threw on some ketchup and started off when,
"Oh Katsuko I didn't think I'd see you here." Sakura laughed.
"I can't get a fucking hotdog without having your dumbass annoy me?" She hissed.
"Bad language. Didn't your parents teach you better?" She smirked and walked off.
"I'll show you bad language…" Katsuko mumbled and left to join the others.
"Hey Katsuko." Kiyo said.
"What's up?"
"Watching the guys."
"Do what?" She asked.
"The sack race." Kiyo laughed and pointed. Gaara hopped to Naruto, slapped his hand and the blond was off to finish the race.
"Go Naruto! Woo! Yah!" Kiyo cheered.
"Nice job Gaara." Katsuko said loudly. He gave her a mean look and closed his eyes annoyed.
"That was ridiculous!" Gaara spat, sitting at a table with his arms crossed.
"What do you mean! We won! I got four coupons for free ramen and this amazing candy basket." Naruto exclaimed.
"You get the coupons, I get the candy." He snapped, snatching the basket from him.
"I didn't know you were the athletic type." Katsuko smirked.
"I'm not, trust me. Temari forced me to do soccer once…bad idea. It was one of the most humiliating times of my life…" He sighed.
"Cheer up grumpy." Kiyo said. "There's gonna be fireworks soon, but first…ICE-CREAM!"
"Let me just throw this away." Katsuko said, referring to her empty hotdog plate that had nothing but ketchup and crumbs. She stood up, turned around, took a few steps, and then…SPLAT!
"Shit…"
"You BITCH!" Sasuke spat, wiping the ketchup from his shirt.
"You ruined my shirt."
"Sorry. I didn't mean to." She said.
"You little emo freak. How many times do I have to put you in your place! You're so pathetic and miserable."
"Shut it Uchiha." Gaara said, coming face to face with him.
"Again?" Kiyo sighed.
"Who do you think you are? You're just another freak." Sasuke spat.
"Who the hell do you think YOU are? Call me what you want, but leave Katsuko out of this." Gaara spat. Kids surrounded the two.
"I love how last week you flipped out on her because she missed a date, and now you're defending her sorry ass!" Sasuke smirked.
"That's none of your business. Just leave her alone. I'm sick and tired of your bitching."
"Then let's settle this Gaara, once and for all. You and me…a fight. We'll finish this."
"Alright." Gaara said.
"Fine then. Tonight at 11:45, here at the park. There's no cops near this area. You and me." Sasuke declared.
"The winner is the strongest I guess, and the loser backs off."
"Exactly Gaara." He smirked, shoving him.
"Asshole." Gaara spat shoving him back.
"Calm down Sasuke!" Dai hissed holding him back.
"Save it for tonight." Naruto said, standing infront of Gaara. Sasuke pushed his friend off and left. Gaara rolled his eyes and went back to the table to finish his fries.
