How I met Toni Sullivan Chapter 8

"Easy....easy.....OK,now lightly tap the break pedal." We stopped immediately. We've been practicing for about a week.

"I did it!"Toni grinned. I laughed.We just arrived at the DMV to get her licence.

"Great. Are you ready?"I asked. She bit her lip.

"Don't worry,Toni. You'll do fine."I smiled.

I waited in the lobby while she took her test. This was so boring.

I was so bored, I was reading a Women's magazine. The things women do for a guy: Surgery, Make up,Diets. Wow.The lady at the desk stared at me then the magazine. I closed it and threw it on the table.I sat up and went outside.The student driver car pulled up.

Toni stepped out with a small smile on her face.

"How was it?"I asked. She shrugged.

"I feel like I did well." She followed the man inside. Moments later she ran out and jumped into my arms.

"I DID IT!"She screamed.

"Really?! Toni this is great!"I said hugging her.

"Look at my licence! Look at me all Cheesin' and stuff."She said. I laughed.

"Let's go drive to the ice cream shop,Miss Sullivan."I said handing her my keys.

She later drove to the beach and we sat on the hood of my car eating the ice cream.

"Thank you so much Nick. I can drive now!"

" There was nothing to be afraid of."I said finishing my ice cream.

"Afraid?"She scoffed,"Who said I was afraid?"

"Oh please. Everyone is afraid to drive at first."I said.

"Not me."She said. I looked at her.

"OK. So I was a little scared."She said.

"I knew it."I chuckled.

"Hey Watch this."She said taking out empty cups and pitched it in the nearest waster basket.

"Nice shot."I laughed. She smirked.

"Hey Toni."

"Yeah?"

"Who was that guy?"

"What guy?"

"There was a picture of you,Toby,and this guy. Who was that? Why wasn't he at the party?"I asked.

"Oh..."Toni said softly,"He was my friend Tyler.and he wasn't at the party because he died last year."

"Oh. I'm sorry. He was cool?"I asked.She nodded.

"He was."She answered.

"What happened?"I asked.

"He was murdered. Brutally. They found his body in his room. Blood was everywhere."Toni sniffled.

"Whoa. Did they catch who did it?"I asked.

"No.....they announced it unsolved last month."She answered. I looked at her and she was crying.

"I didn't mean to bring it up. I'm sorry."I said and pulled her into a hug. She cried in my chest and I rubbed her back.

"That's why Toby is the way he is. Tyler was his best bud."She said.

"I'm sorry."I whispered.She pulled away and wiped her tears.

"Thanks. It's been a while since I cried." She smiled weakly and hugged me.

Then she gripped the back of my head and pulled me into a mind-blowing kiss.
