Who Says High School Is Only For Humans? [ Chapter 1. The Beginning]
My name is Amberly, but people just call me Amber.
My hair was originally brown, but I dyed it a platinum blond with black bangs, streaks, and tips.
I’m emo, but I don’t think it’s a label, more of a style, at least for me.
I’m a sophomore this year, and I had sworn to make this a good year.
I walked into Mr. Black’s science class, sighing in defeat. He was the most boring teacher ever, no doubt.
He had a monotone voice, and talked lower than a whisper, which had the class leaning forward and straining to hear. The result of this was poor notes and bad grades.
All except for one.
Not only did Jake Smith get perfect grades, he only seemed to be the only person who had no problem hearing Mr. Black’s voice.
Boys were wary of him, girls huddled around his desk.
I couldn’t blame them.
Jake had shaggy brown hair and warm green eyes. His skin was the color of cream.
He didn’t look bulky, but I knew if he flexed, his biceps were probably going to be about the size of my head.
Every girl loved him and asked him out frequently. A few even begged.
He sat right across from me, and it wasn’t far.
We sat in black lab tables for two, but I didn’t have a partner.
Hannah used to sit there, but she changed schools.
This doesn’t sound so strange, does it?
I didn’t think so.
I thought I was going to an ordinary high school.
Wow, I was wrong.
The first thing I noticed was that a few weeks after Jake arrived, we got new students.
A tall boy with black hair, parted to cover one of his steely gray eyes.
He was very attractive, and all the girl’s eyes seemed to echo my thoughts; they looked at him hungrily.
Then a girl, who had all the boys literally drooling on their desks.
She was tall too, slim and graceful looking.
She had long, wavy blond hair framing a heart shaped face that presented gentle blue eyes.
She looked around the classroom with a faint smile on her very pink lips, looking happy.
“Class, meet Dawn and Matt.”
Jake’s head jerked up to stare at the new students.
His eyes met Matt’s, and they both looked very mad.
Dawn took a seat at my table, as it was one of the last few available.
She smiled brilliantly at me, her teeth so white I bet I could see my reflection if she smiled a bit longer.
Matt took a seat next to Anna, the whore of the school.
She eyed him appreciatively and I could almost hear her thinking of ways to get him to come to her house.
Then he looked up. His eyes met mine, and I thought I saw shock and anger in them.
He turned away to glare athis desk.
“Don’t mind him, he liked his old school better.”
I jumped at the voice next to me.
Dawn was watching me, her lips holding a faint and knowing smile.
“I think he might be gay. So you can tell that girl it’s a waste of time.”
“How did you…?”
Her smile grew more pronounced.
“She’s eyeing him like a piece of meat. Its obvious.”
I smiled and realized I hadn’t introduced myself.
“I’m Amber.”
She nodded.
“As you know, I’m Dawn.”
I was curious about her, so I asked her where she was from.
She replied vaguely,
“Oh, up north.”
Then she laughed quietly, leaving me confused.
Across the isle, Jake chuckled almost silently.
I was dazed.
‘What is so funny about the north?’
Then, class began, so I strained to hear Mr. Black’s voice until I actually had a headache.
To my surprise, when the bell rang, Dawn picked up a piece of paper presenting what had to be her notes. They were written in perfect cursive and they were full sentences.
I looked at mine, where some sentences weren’t complete because I couldn’t hear his mumble.
Dawn smiled and asked,
“What do you have next?”
“French,” I answered, still amazed. She must have really good hearing.
She looked at her schedule and frowned slightly.
“I have math with Mr. Campbell.”
“Wow. I’m sorry. Maybe I’ll see you around. Just don’t get into trouble in that class!”
She looked puzzled but headed toward his classroom, guided by a hopeful guy from our previous class.
I had warned her not to get in trouble in his class because he was a perv.
He gave detentions for everything and made girls crawl around on the floor so he could look at their butts.
He also gave frequent paddlings to girls, but sent most boys straight to the office.
I had only got one detention, for throwing a book at Kristyna, my best friend.
We were only joking around, but it didn’t matter to him.
Thankfully, I had been warned and knew what to do.
I didn’t finish my lines until it was almost time to go, so my butt was safe in my seat.
Hayley had rushed through hers and was now having to bend down to clean out the inside of desks.
Oh well. She should have known.
The next day, Dawn and I might as well be best friends. She got along great with Kristyna, who was opposite in Dawn’s appearance.
Kristyna was about an inch shorter than me, with very tanned skin and the darkest brown eyes I have ever seen, She has long, dark brown hair, but not insanely long, a few inches above her elbows.
She looks like that because she is about 75% Indian, but we joke about it and say she is Mexican and we call her Conswala. My family invented that name for her after we had tacos for supper.
Not only has it stuck between the family, but many people in school know her as Conswala.
Dawn loved her and we became very close. A trio.
Matt and Jake seemed to go out of their way to avoid each other, which I found strange, but didn’t question.
Then, three weeks after Dawn came, the strangest girl I have ever seen appeared at our school.
[[[New story! The whole thing about Mr. Campbell and Kristyna is very true. It happened between us and he ended up getting fired at the end of our seventh grade year. I just thought randomly to put it. And I was running out of ideas for names, so I threw in Kristyna. She is my best friend, so her character won’t be hard to write about. Anyway. Please rate and message. I really want to know if I should keep writing this story. PLEASE?! Please, please, please. I will always message back. <3 Thank you ^^ ]]]
