Ryan:

I was shaking as I walked up to Filch’s office Fred and George marched behind me, I glared back at the two and Fred grinned back.

“Being in trouble isn’t so bad, Ryan, trust us,” Fred said catching up to me and flinging his arm around my shoulder, before looking over at George.

“We’re in trouble all the time,” George said opening the door for me and bowing. Fred took his arm off my shoulder and let me go in. “Ladies first,” and I did go first, with them right behind me, it was comforting in an odd way. I had never had guy friends before.

“You three…” Filch said trembling, I sank down in my chair, my face was beat red I am sure. Fred elbowed me as Filch looked back down at his desk furiously writing something; I glared over at him and he pointed to a drawer. The drawer said “Confiscated and Highly Dangerous” I looked back at him and shook my head, but it was no use, the twins just grinned.

“You three… are in so much trouble,” Filch muttered glaring back up at us, suddenly the twin’s grins were gone and they looked solemn.

“We are very sorry,” Fred said sincerely, he was a very good actor, he must of had much practice like he had said before.

“We will never do it again,” George said looking exactly the same.

“You see it wasn’t even our fault.”

“They just slipped out.”

“Miss. Black bumped into me and I didn’t even notice that they had left my pocket!”

“You must believe us.”

“We are deeply, so very sorry,” Fred hit me again with his elbow, obviously I was suppose to say something, but what I had no idea. I had never lied before in my life, I was always a good girl for the most part.

“I hope that you will take this apology very seriously, Professor Filch, because we truly and honestly mean it,” I said earnestly opening my eyes wide trying to look innocent.

“I… I am not a Professor,” Filch bumbled, his face a deep red.

“Are you sure? I could have sworn you were!” I said and got an intense rush from lying.

Dylan:

As I was walking down toward the dungeons, where the Slytherin common room, I was trying to block the chatter that filled the air around me when a flash of red hair flew by me.

“Wasn’t that one of the Weasley twins?” I asked turning toward the girls.

“Who cares?” Macy said trying to flip her hair behind her head like I did so often; I made a mental note to stop.

“I do,” I snapped. “Wasn’t that one of them?”

“I suppose?” Callie said looking at the boys back, before he turned a sharp corner. I went down the hallway he had come from, when I heard a huge crash from upstairs.

“What was that?” Polly basically screamed into my ear and I winced turning on her. She cowered as I glared at her.

“Don’t do that again,” I muttered and saw another flash of red hair out of the corner of my eye. It went into a room of some sort, I started toward it, but then someone was in my way.

“Dylan!” Ryan said brightly smiling at me; she suddenly flung her arms around me making me back up about three feet. “It’s been forever since we talked! Do we have any classes together? Oh, we had that one earlier huh?”

“Uh… yeah? How are you?” I mumbled trying to understand what she was doing, the girls behind me glared at her like a mortal enemy.

“Who are these girls? You must introduce me! Hi, I’m Ryan Dar- Potter!” Ryan said in this fake voice that I think I only noticed. “It’s so hard to get used to a new name,” she laughed looking around to see if any of the girls would agree with her, but they just continued to glare.

“This is Callie, Polly, Becky, and Macy,” I said slowly pointing to each girl; Polly glared at Callie because I said her name first and Callie smirked at her flipping her hair also.

“Ryan!” one of the Weasley twins said coming up behind her out of nowhere. “We have to be going, you know, people to see, things to do!”

I watched my best friend be dragged away by a boy she had barely just met; suddenly I felt like crying. Losing your best friend to a poor ginger was as low as low can get. As suddenly as I felt like crying I felt like punching the wall. I didn’t need her. I didn’t need anyone.

Harper:

“There are boys everywhere!” I sighed looking around the common room as I sat with Jessie and Cassie. I was sprawled on the floor in front of the fire while Jessie was on the couch and Cassie was sitting crisscross next to me.

“Well, duh,” Cassie said rolling her eyes and laughing. “This is a boy and girl school.”

“They aren’t as good as I thought they would be,” I muttered watching a fourth year walk by.

“What do you mean?” Jessie said, looking over at me, she was drawing something on a pad of paper. I watched her for a moment as she studied me.

“Well, I thought they would be better. You know like funny and fun to hang out with, but so far I just hear them grunt. Well, except for Fred and George, it’s not fair that Ryan gets to hang out with them all day. What are you drawing?” I said all this in one breath and Cassie laughed loudly impressed.

“You,” Jessie muttered peering at me from where she sat, I smiled and turned to Cassie, who was painting her toes a bright yellow colour for Hufflepuff, and she had already painted mine and Jessica’s.

“Hey, girls!” a boy with shaggy brown hair and large sunglasses said sitting down next to me, Cassie glanced up.

“You know we’re inside, right?” Cassie asked lifting up her eyebrow at the strange boy, who smiled a very large smile back at her. I tilted my head at him curious and he looked over at me.

“Why, yes, I do know we are inside, Miss. Prissy-Pants,” he said to Cassie making Jessie and I laugh. “What are your guy’s names?” he asked making an effort to show that this question was not directed at Cassie.

“I’m Harper,” I said smiling, maybe the boys here were fun or maybe just the ones in our grade were, not including the Malfoy twins or any other boy in Slytherin, no one liked those boys.

“Jessie,” she said smiling at him too. I watched Cassie walk away awkwardly, because of her freshly painted toes.

“Hey, Ollie! Come over here!” the boy yelled and another boy came over. Ollie was wearing all designer looking clothes. “This is Oliver and I’m Jason. Oliver this is Jessie and Harper our new best friends.” I laughed along with the rest of them, making friends was way easier than I would have ever thought.

Indigo:

“Do you want to go on walk?” Emily asked coming up to me, there was a boy stooping behind her. I eyed him from over my book. “Oh, this is my brother Victor. We’re twins. There seems to be a lot of them this year,” she added as I stood up. Everything Emily said she said it like a fact, even her questions we’re more like statements then actual questions, her brother seemed not to say anything.

“Where are we going?” I asked as we wondered out of the common room. Victor and I were on either side of Emily, I was still clutching the book I had just borrowed from the library.

“I was thinking about a walk around the lake, but I saw three very obnoxious looking people out there. I suppose we can go anyways,” Emily said and headed for the door, I couldn’t help but wonder why she invited me on this walk. She could have just as easily invited Kim, who was very cynical girl or Paige, who was very sophisticated. I just don’t understand what she saw in me, maybe that was a bad thing.

The moment the doors were pushed open the brightness blinded me. The sun wasn’t even out, the sky was a very light gray color and it was bright. It reminded me of Dylan’s eyes.

“Over there, that’s them,” Emily pointed two three people cluttered together. Two had mops of red hair and the other had black. I stared at Ryan and the Weasley twins and thought about telling Emily about how that girl she pointed to and was saying was obnoxious was one of my very best friends.

I looked over at Victor who nodded his head, I don’t know if it was in agreement or if he was merely just showing he had heard her talk. For some reason I felt by telling them that girl, whose musical laugh just filled the grounds making a lot of older kids look at her, was my best friend would make me embarrassed, and for some reason I had the biggest urge to impress these two.

“They look very obnoxious,” I said holding myself up high and raising an eyebrow in Ryan’s direction. Ryan saw me and looked as though she was going to come over, but one of the twins stopped her pointing to something else on the piece of parchment they were holding, she turned quickly to look at it. For once in my life I was glad Ryan didn’t come over to me.

“I cannot stand loud people,” Emily said as Ryan laughed again, making even more people notice her. I walked with the two as Emily talked about random things and Victor said nothing. There was uneasiness in my stomach every time I laughed or nodded to what Emily was saying. I felt as though I were betraying my own very loud sister and friends with every nod of my head and every sound that came out of my mouth. I felt as though fitting in with this girl would be difficult, not because I didn’t know what to say, because I did, but because they felt wrong.
