Birthday Wishes Gone Wrong: fantasy isn't what I expected it to be( a who would you fall for story) Part 4
Hey!!! Sorry for the wait. I've decided that every few chapters I'll do different endings for each guy. That way they story can progress a little faster and I'll still have the endings. Thanx to the person who e mailed me to continue I have a surge of inspiration to write a lot faster. The next chapter will continue the story. Hope you like!!!!For a while I just sit at the table, nervously twisting my hands around. Sick of watching the glaring contest apparently being held by my new housemates, I slip off of the giant chair and begin to climb my way up stairs.
“Wait, um, I don’t think we’ve been formally introduced” Ian calls out racing over to me. “The name’s Ian” he smiles giving a slight bow “And now may I ask who you are?”
“I’m Lia. Normally I’d say it’s nice to meet you, but since I’m being kept here, against my will, I kind of wish I haven’t” I say in an icy tone, noticing his grin fall from his face. I hear snickers coming from the table.
“Well at least let me introduce you to your roommates” I roll my eyes “This here is…”
“I can introduce myself. Name’s Titus” he says still smirking at my remark.
“I’m Aaron” the werewolf grumbles.
“Todd” the silver haired man says in revolting voice, as if saying his name to me is degrading him.
“Seth” the Brunette utters angrily getting up and leaving the room.
“Kane, my name’s Kane” the green haired man speaks as if he has to remember what it was.
The rest of them depart from the room leaving me and Ian alone.
“I have to finish up some work, but when I’m done I’ll tell you anything you want to know. Stay with Merry” He runs up the stairs then stops “Sorry for what happened. I never meant to involve someone like you in this” Before I could speak he runs past the door way, me now completely by myself.
Ending 1: Seth
I leave the room through an arched doorway, leading to an open corridor. This part of the building seems newer and grand, because the floors are made of marble and the walls are decorated with lavish wallpaper and paneling. A beautiful melody begins to flow through the corridor, sweeping me into the heavenly music. I hum tracing the paneling with my finger tips. The music grows louder as I approach a mahogany door. I push open the door to find a double story library; the walls are lined with cases full of books. I’m astounded at how many books are stacked on the tables and chairs. I move to the right and see a grand piano near many tall windows, their light shining down on it. As I move closer I see Seth is the one playing it, his fingers gliding over each key with such softness. Not wanting to bother him I step backwards, but my foot backs into a stack of books, each falling down so loud that I cringe. The music stops and in an instant he’s standing right before me looking down with weary eyes.
“I didn’t mean to…I’ll leave now” I mutter afraid of what he’ll do to me, but as I turn to leave his hand reaches out to my arm.
“Listen I would like to…” he pauses trying to find words “apologize for the way I treated you. You not knowing where the hell you are and treating you like an enemy, scaring you like that...I’m sorry, acting like that is unacceptable” he says in a half sincere half struggling way.
The WARNING! WARNING! HE’S A VAMPIRE sign goes off in my head, but I say “its okay I guess” trying to remove my arm from his grasp. I then lock eyes with his. Sorrow, pain and lust cloud them.
“Well bye” I stammer wrenching my arm away and rushing as I fast as I can out of the library and down the corridor, thankful that Merry is standing at the end. Smiling she motions me to follow her and I do so.
Ending 2: Todd
I head through a large archway leading to a long corridor. I notice a hallway to the left and see that not too far down a door is slightly cracked. I quietly push the door open and see that the room is only lit by the flames in the fireplace at back of the room. To the left is a small marble bar and to the right is a desk. I walk forward onto an oriental rug and go down a few steps to the two seats facing the fireplace. As I get closer a book emerges being held by Todd. Feeling the warmth of the fire, I sit in the other chair. He reads with keen interest, his expression calm and relaxed. The heat starts to make me tired and I almost forget Todd is in the room with me until I hear his book shut. He stands up and faces me with a hard stare, the serenity gone.
“I’ve never wanted to bring an innocent civilian into the war, but…that amulet is really important to my clan and it is necessary for me to get it” he says sternly, the light from the fire making his yellow eyes appear alive. He sees the scared look in my face, his expression torn with grief, grabs his book and walks to the door. He quickly says “I’m sorry to have frightened you” before rushing right past Merry as she comes in. Smiling she motions me to follow her and I do so.
Ending 3: Ian
After Ian leaves me alone, I examine the many medieval looking artifacts in the room. Some armor, sharp swords mantled on the wall, and cases full of small trinkets fill the room, all stuff you could find in an old castle on earth…As to why stuff like this would be here is unbeknownst to me. Curious of what work would be more important then getting this thing out of me, I head up stairs to look for Ian. I stride down the hallway from earlier and spot a crooked picture hanging on the wall. I go to fix it, but my hand passes right through the picture. Losing my balance I fall forward into the picture. Suddenly the light vanishes and I’m plummeting down. I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die, I’m gonna die. I scream trying to hold on to anything, but right before I hit the ground my body starts to levitate.
“Well, well, well. How’d you find this place?” Ian mocks while standing in front of me “Did Merry tell you where to find me?”
“You need to fix your stupid picture” I yell “How was I supposed to know it wasn’t really there?”
“I’ll get right on it. It’s a good thing you dropped on by, or I would’ve been still in my work mode”
Ignoring him I say “What are you working on”. I peer behind him and see a gigantic table filled with contraptions, papers scattered around everywhere and vials filled with a mystifying golden liquid. Stepping in front of me he says “How bout we get on out of here and talk about something else”. He leads me through a doorway that disappears as soon as we get through it. Feeling that he won’t budge on what was in there I say “Well why is this house look so much like something from my world?”For some reason the pleasant expression goes away and I catch him twitch for a second.
“This house and the land surrounding it has been passed down through my family for generations” he pauses “I guess you can say my family has always liked old European styles of…your world” His stress on the your sounds forced. More questions swarm around in my head, but before I could ask another he places both hands on my shoulder, looking me straight in the eye.
“I’m truly sorry for forcing you in to this and I’d really like to make it up to you. I know talking to me is a coping measure for you, but I really have to finish my work. Waiting isn’t an option for me” The look of sincerity searching for a way to reach me plagues his eyes, one which doesn’t work.
A twinge of hurt flies through me “You know what fine. You were a real help in making this whole situation a tiny bit comfortable for me” I fling around and march down the hall not caring that he looked really sad or that I had no idea where I was going…kinda. I sigh in relief when I see Merry come from another hallway. Smiling she motions me to follow her and I do so.
Ending 4: Kane
Loneliness starts to ache inside me. I’ve never really been alone before. Caleb and Colin are always with me, usually along with Helen or Bryan. I slowly walk under an archway leading to a wider corridor. I squeak in each step on the marble floor. I trace my fingers on the paneling reaching up to the swirls on the burgundy wallpaper. I eventually find myself up-stairs and see a door with light streaming through. When I open the door, a smile is brought to my face. Hundreds of flowers bursting with vibrant reds, oranges, blues and every color imaginable fill the room. Each plant looks exotic, ones I’ve never seen before. Their delicate fragrances flow within each breathe I take. I barely can see the brick path as I walk, because of all the leaves. As I approach a beautiful magenta flower its aroma intoxicates me, urging me to touch its long luscious petals. I go to touch it when suddenly a sword pops out of nowhere making me jump backwards. Kane comes out from a bushel of leaves.
“You almost gave me a hard attack why…” I gasp angrily, but he cuts me off and points to the flower. He slowly moves his sword over to it. As soon as it reaches the center, the leaves come alive and snap at the sword. It hisses when it can’t break the metal.
“Wow, I’ve never seen anything like that!” I exclaim “Um thanks”
“Your welcome” I swear a tiny smirk sat on his lips for a second.
We stand there, an uncomfortable silence emerging. “I guess I’ll be going” I say all awkward. I start to walk away and the instant I pass him he speaks “As a warning to you, when I get the orders to retrieve the amulet, you need to be as far away from me as possible”
His words slice through me; I turn to meet his eyes. In them lie determination yet heartrending empathy gearing towards me. He glances away and quickly leaves; only the plants and I remain. I try to see where he went, but instead bump into Merry watering the plants. Smiling she motions me to follow her and I do so.
Ending 5: Aaron
Since being all alone isn’t helping me feel any better, I get up and walk through the archway to look around for Merry, the only one who might make me feel better. The scenery drastically changes for the walls now have wallpaper with paneling and the floor shines in marble. I glimpse at the many paintings hanging on the wall as I walk. I find some stairs, but before I climb them I hear a whacking noise coming from the opposite wall. Hoping that she is in there, I walk over and crack the door open. Inside is a game room with blue walls and dark floors. In the corner is a bar area, there are some couches and in the center is a pool table. Playing it is Aaron, clearly focused on getting a perfect shot. Not wanting to disturb him I turn to leave, but he says “You can come in ya know. It’s not like it’ll kill me to be around you”
Ignoring his snide remark I stride on in. At least he’s not glaring at me anymore. I plop myself down on the couch and watch as Aaron hits a ball into the hole. Memories of playing pool with my brothers and dad seep into my mind. They were always amazed at the clear shot I had and insisted they let me win when they clearly didn’t. Especially the twins they would get all flustered that I was better then them and stomp off …I wonder if I’ll be able to see them again…
“Hey, Lia was it? Can you stop staring yer messin up my concentration” Astounded that he would say that when I have an obvious sad expression on my face, I get up to leave. “Uh w-wait” Aaron rushes up in front of me “You don’t have to leave. I didn’t mean…look it’s just really frustrating that I have to be here and that I don’t have the amulet, not even counting the fact someone like you has it. I…” but he stops right there when he realizes what he’s saying.
“Did you seriously just say someone like me? I don’t know how you think this is one, but you really suck at giving apologies.” Water flows up to my eyes. Aw crap!!! Anger, it was to suppose to be anger not sadness.
Looking really guilty, Aaron puts his head down and faintly says sorry. He suddenly punches a hole in one of the supporting columns and walks on out. I go to follow him, but then Merry appears. Smiling she motions me to follow her and I do so.
Ending 6: Titus
Being alone in an unfamiliar place does nothing for my nerves so I get up to explore my new home. The tall ceilings and shiny marble floors of this mansion are something completely unimaginable. I’ve been to many places for vacation, but not once have been to an old grand mansion like this one. Normally this kind of experience to live in such a beautiful home would thrill me, but considering the circumstances all it does is make me home sick. I come across an open area leading up to a massive metal door. Writings like that were on the amulet are etched across the metal. Below I guess is an intricate lock system of plates and shackles. As I stare at the door it suddenly begins to open. Terrified at what is coming in I attempt to race back to the hallway. It flings open with so much force the air makes me slip. I look around to see Titus walking foreword. Half expecting him to go right past me, he surprisingly stops and looks down.
“Well, if it isn’t the little human. What were you doing by the door? Were you spying on me?” he says teasingly yet with an intense stare.
“I was just admiring the door. I didn’t even know you were out there!” I in a defensive tone.
“That sounded a little bit guilty. Are you lying? It looked like you were in quite a hurry to leave” His stare intensifies.
Angry I stand up and shout “I don’t lie! Honestly I thought you were some monster that was gonna come in and kill me, or eat me or something or whatever that involved me getting hurt!! Obviously I’m going to run away to avoid getting my limbs torn apart or something!!” Noticing how much bigger he is than me I back away.
“For a human” he laughs lowering his head super close to mine “You’re pretty amusing. This should be interesting” He then walks past me disappearing into the hallway.
As soon as he leaves I hear “There you are I’ve been looking all over for you” from Merry coming down the stairs over in the corner. “Now come with me deary” She motions me to follow her and I do so.
