“Ne, Akaya, don’t you think out meeting was a fluke?” asked Haibara Danni.
“Eh?” asked Kirihara Akaya, looking at his friend. “Oh…Well, I don’t think so. But why are you getting the answers from me? You can’t think that the answers exist somewhere, Danni. The answers exist inside you.”
“So, you don’t regret having me as a friend?” asked Danni, her eyes bright.
“Of course not,” said Akaya. He smiled. “You’re best just the way you are, with your honest feelings and everything.”
Danni squealed happily, but quietly so he wouldn’t hear.
‘It’s definitely love,’ she thought. ‘I love him.’
Changing the subject, Akaya asked what Danni feels in the morning, right after she wakes up.
“Well, isn’t it fine to start every day with excited feelings?” she asked. “It’s always good to be excited and happy in the morning so the atmosphere around others will feel pleasant.”
“I see…” Akaya said. “For me, I felt like putting my face forward and lifting my head up. There’s absolutely no time for crying over something that happened to your friend or…a nightmare, that’s for sure.”
“Of course not,” scoffed Danni. ‘Now we’re alone…but I want you to see the love I’m exposing. I want you to notice that, Akaya.’
“Ah, Danni, can’t we go inside?!” asked Akaya. “The sun is killing me!”
“You go ahead; I want to stay here,” said Danni stubbornly.
“Why?!” Akaya asked, standing up. “You’re going to get a tan if you stay here any longer!”
“This star is the stage where we’re supposed to shine,” she said. “When you play tennis, you have the sun! And when you play in the sun, you’re on a stage where everything is focused on you, and only you!”
Akaya made a sound.
“It’s OK if you can’t find the reasons for this,” Akaya teased. “By the time you realize it, you’ll already be running for shelter.”
He ran inside the house, leaving Danni outside to look at the clouds.
“To me…It’s like going past your limit. Go through, and don’t give up, ever.
“I just want to give him a kiss of deep emotions, a kiss in this moment…Or maybe even one to say that it’s OK. But now, I’ll just follow the dreams for the future. That’s the only path I can take. Maybe this path will take me to the point where I can actually…kiss him.”

“Hold up, Akaya! What are those picture you have there?” Danni heard.
“Oh, they’re just pictures of Danni and me.”
“Let’s see them, then!”
“Dang, Marui-senpai! Can’t you just leave me alone for once?!”
“Mou, you’re no fun at all, Akaya.”
“Everybody says that nowadays.”
“Well, can’t you just say what they’re for, or why they were taken?”
“It was the time when we first met, OK? I’m guarding this with my life because it’s really important to me.”
“I believe you on that,” Marui said. “You do have a soft spot for Danni-chan. Maybe you’ll even go to the point of hugging her so you guys will never be apart.”
“Hey,” said Akaya sternly. “That’ll only happen if we get married. Which will never happen because I doubt she likes me back.”
“You never know…Wakame.”
Marui exited the room, and his eyes met with Danni’s. She blushed when he saw her.
“Make the move soon, Danni. I expect to see you and Wakame holding hands tomorrow.”
He left, leaving a speechless Danni.
“Danni?” asked Akaya, coming out. His eyes widened when he saw her.
“Y-you were…listening?!” he asked, blushing like crazy. She shook her head vigorously.
“Of course not!” she yelled. “Why would I barge in on somebody’s conversation?! Besides, I was looking for, uh, Yukimura!”
“He was over in that room…” Akaya said, pointing to the opposite direction. Danni sweatdropped.
“W-well, I missed him, probably!”
“You could hear him lecturing Niou-senpai and Marui-senpai.”
“Are you mistaking him for Sanada?”
“No, I’m positive it was him,” Akaya said, raising an eyebrow.”You were listening, weren’t you?”
“I…I…”
Akaya gave her a glare. Danni, noticing this, sent him a glare back.
“Is that supposed to be a glaring contest or what?!” yelled Marui. The two looked at the direction Marui was in, but he was nowhere in sight.
“Get in here,” Akaya said. The two went inside the room Akaya was in before.
“Were you listening, Danni? This is all that I’m asking,” said Akaya.
“Fine! I admit it, I. Was. Listening. But that doesn’t mean—”
“I. L. O. V. E. Y. O. U,” Akaya said randomly.
“Huh?” asked Danni, confused.
“Do you not know how to spell, Danni?” he asked.
It took her a while to figure it out, and then she smiled brightly.
“I love you too, idiot,” she said.
