Dark Nights 15, A Vampires Power

"I love your silly optimism," he laughed pulling you into a hug. "Its so refreshing to be around someone so alive!" "Uh, need to breathe," you said pushing him away. His laugh was rich and deep, "Oh yes, I forgot." He smiled handsomely but you noticed an odd glint in his eye. "Bad vampire!" you shook a finger at him. "Thinking bad thoughts!" His smile turned into a mischievous grin. "Bad?" he inquired with false innocence. "Yes bad, now- Oh! Oh!" you exclaimed looking around. "Its Monday!" "Yes, I know," his brow wrinkled. "Whats wrong?" "I missed work! I didnt call in sick or anything! I never miss work unless Im sick." "Oh is that all?" he smiled again putting an arm around your shoulder. "You dont have to worry about working anymore, now that youre here with me." "What?! I Cant Stay with you! Are you crazy, I have family and friends to worry about. I have my house, all my stuff..." you trailed off, remembering everything back home. You didnt notice that Daniel had stiffened and was staring at the wall with great interest. "I want to go home!" you exclaimed. He withdrew his arm and turned towards the fireplace. "Do you hear me Daniel?! Daniel! Look at me!" He turned back to you, "I cant let you go darling, not now. One, it wouldnt be prudent, you know too much, and two-" he stared into you eyes. "I need you." You began to feel that odd loss of control again. Gasping you tried to look away, tried to close you eyes, push yourself to do something, anything, but you were frozen. "Im sorry ma cherie," he said and walked out of the room.
BASTARD!!! Get back here and face me like a man!!!!

'Daniel?' you thought feverishly 'I'm still stuck here!' You stood there, unable to move, thinking quickly. 'Its just some silly mind trick,' you told yourself. 'Some silly trick I shouldnt be fooled by.' You concentrated on your hand, willing it to move; pushing with everything you had to break free. You felt exhausted, like all your energy was being drained as you fought with your body. With a last painful effort you broke free, clapping your hands together, but at the same time your whole body was freed and weak-kneed you collapsed to the floor. "I did it," you muttered, trying to push yourself up. Wobbling like toothpicks your arms gave out, so you lay on the floor, panting. Quick footsteps approached and stopped dead in the doorway. "______?" Daniel came into the room. "Ma cherie! You're on the floor! You broke free!" He scooped you up and stared down into your face. "Put me down!" you snapped. "Put me down you freak! Get away from me!" But he ignored your enraged orders and continued to hold you close. "You broke free," he murmured again. "What the Hell does that mean?" "It means cherie, that you are most abnormally strong, mentally. You broke my hypnosis' hold, a great feat!" "Hmph, great," you growled struggling free of his grasp. "Whys it great? I mean all I had to do was decide it was all in my head and I wouldnt let it control me." He smiled sweetly. "It is great darling because I have never met a human who could break my hypnosis, very few can escape a weaker vampires lure. Im so good I can hypnotize other vampires!" he boasted. You snorted and walked past him towards the door, but a hand on your arm stopped you. He pulled you to him and stared down into your eyes. "I meant it when I said I need you cherie." "Let go!" you snapped, hitting his chest. He chuckled and ran a hand through your hair. "But its so nice to hold you close. You're always trying to get away from me." "Ar!" you growled, swatting away his hand. "Dont make me stomp on your foot again!" "Hows your head?" he asked ignoring your threats. "Fine now let go of me!" He did and you stumbled back a few steps, glaring at him. "Bad vampire!" you snapped. "Deja vu!" he exclaimed glancing around. "I know where this led last time, hmm." You didnt like the look he was giving you so you edged out of the room then stumbled up the stairs. Getting back into your own room you decided to take a bubble bath, they were always relaxing. After 15 minutes of soaking you heard what sounded faintly like the door of your room being opened. "Daniel?" you called. "Koji? Jameison? Hmph." There was no reply and no further noise. After a thorough soak you rinsed off and got out then walked back to your bedroom for your clothes and stopped dead at the sight on your bed.
