"Sister...let me try!" Your little brother was tugging at your dress, staring up at you with big, chocolate brown eyes. You smiled at him; he always was interested in your archery skills. You were only a sixteen year old girl, yes, but you were probably better than most middle-aged men. You started practacing at the age of 12 after some boys were teasing you about not being able to fend for yourself, about being a girl and having 'no physical talent at all'. You were surprised how good you were, and loved doing it. You often went out to practice, but ever since your mother became pregnant and your father was seriously injured, you had to help around the house a lot. Your family was very, very poor except for some few treasures that could probably be worth a lot of money, but were family heirlooms; your family would never consider selling those. Right now, however, you were outside with your little brother, Tumaini, showing him your archery skills. He was very fond of you; you always tried to be a role-model for him, but you had to admit he could be annoying at times. He simply chuckled. "Ah...you know some tricks, do you? Haha..I know some tricks also..."He seemed to think that you didn't know what you were doing, because he was calmly taking his time in brandishing his sword. "I'll do you in like I did the others...but not before a little fun...." Angry, you released your bow, and it struck him square in the chest. His face was full of surprise, and you had sent another one at him in no less than two seconds. He fell over, groaning. You turned heel, and ran pasts gasping people, laughing thieves, and utter chaos. I've never attacked anyone before...Ra, why is this happening? Where am I going? You stopped, looking around you. Flames were screaming beside you, blood was at your feet, and you were completely confused about where you were. Seeing a clearning, you ran up to it, and froze in your tracks. Though the heat from the fire was unbearable, you felt your blood freeze up at what you saw.
"Tamaini..perhaps some other time. We should really be getting back home now. It's getting late. I should be cooking dinner now, actually." You said, packing up your bow and arrows. Tumaini looked dissapointed, but nodded. You and him worked very had around the house since you parents were very tired and weak; you cooked, cleaned, went to the market, and coached our mother. Your mother was 7 months pregnant, and according to the medic of the village, she may be pregnant with twins. When your mother asked the High Priestess about this, she said that she could feel two Ka's from your mother. So, your mother was very ecstatic about the fact she was most likely going to have twins. Tumaini helped your father regain his strength; he had been seriousl injured in a recent fight with some troublesome thieves that came to the village. He was going to be okay, but it would take some time. Until then, you were basically the one who made sure everything was in order in your house.
Wow..I'm a busy body. [Me: -mumbles- Not for long...o.o; -cough- Nevermind.]
"Sister, how long you think Father will be like this?"You stayed quiet; your father was making progress, but slowly.
"I'm not sure..don't worry, though. As long as you help him, he'll be fine." Tumaini smiled at you, and you smiled back. Soon, you both reached your little house. When you entered, you went to your room and put away your archery equipment. You heard your brother run down the hall, most likely to talk to your father. Hearing a noise behind you, you saw a pretty thirty - nine year old woman standing in your doorframe, smiling. She was rubbing her stomach, looking very tired. "Hello, mom. Is there anything wrong?" You asked, worried. She shook her head, still smiling.
"No. I was wondering where my dinner was, ~~~~~~. I'm having twins here, dear. " You laughed; your mother was often moody and always hungry nowadays. You nodded and went to go cook the fish your brother and you had caught from the Nile a few days before. Sighing, you started cooking. You loved your family, but you often wondered what it would be like to leave; you hated being cooped up in this little house. You felt like nothing more than an old maid, cooking and cleaning. The only time you felt alive was when you were practacing your archery skills. You often felt like you were going to explode from being forced to work day and night; despite the customary life of a woman of your lifestyle, which was cooking, cleaning, and having babies -- where was the excitement in that?! But, as long as you as poor as you are now, and have a family that needs taking care of, you knew you needed to continue what you were doing. I suppose I'll never leave..even if it does drive me insane.. You thought bitterly, ignoring the fact that what you wished would never come to be.
After dinner, your parents went to bed. You brother insisted on staying up with you, but you made him go to sleep too. After making sure all the doors were baricadded shut, you slipped on a simple white dress and went to bed. You often had insomnia; you could barely find sleep, even if you work all day and are tired. You suppose your anger and pity often fueled your restlessness.
After lying in bed for about an hour or two, you went in the 'family room' and opened up a small golden chest that lay hidden beneath the ground. It held all your family treasures, ones that your grandparents called 'sacred'. You didn't see why; they seemed like regular family heirlooms to you.one item caught your eyes, however: a golden necklace, with various types of gemstones imbedded into it. You suppose they meant something, but didn't know what. You also saw some hieroglyphics carved into the back of the necklace, but it was quite dark in your living room and you couldn't seen what they said. Bored, and curious, you slipped the necklace on, even though no one had worn it in centuries. You gasped, feeling something like pressure being pushed into you chest, and grabbed it immediently. The pain only lasted for a second, and then dissapeared. Dumbstruck, you looked at the necklace; it seemed the same. Everything around you seemed the same. I must've imagined it..maybe it's the stress... You yawned, and got ready to take the necklace off when you smelled smoke. Slowly, you got up and looked out the window, and gasped.
What? WHAT?!
I saw..Atemu! [Me: -drags to other quiz-]
There was fire in the distance; you faintly heard screams and manic laughter. Part of your village was being burnt down, and it seemed the attackers were coming this way. You saw people riding horses with torches in their hands, throwing them at random houses. You saw a little girl running from her burning house, and saw a man on the horse laugh and raise his sword...you turned away, but that could not block out the girl's screams. Your heart pounding, you raced up to your parents room; they were awake. Your father was struggling to get out of bed, and your mother was staring out the window in horror. You heard your little brother run up to you: "Sister, sister! They're heading this way!" You thought very fast, and ran to your father.
"Father, you must leave...you're in no condition to be here..take mother and Tamaini."
"Darling, but you--?" You cut him off, shaking your head.
"I guarentee you half the village is taking the horses from the stables right now to escape. You have to hurry; it'll be much quicker if you go without me!" You mother looked a you in horror.
"~~~~~~, you crazy child, no! You can come with us, you --" She winced, and coughed as the fire drew closer. You panicked as you saw her head move to her overlarge stomach.
"Listen to me! Your pregnant, father's hurt, Tamaini is only eight! I'll find another way! I can at least let you leave now! Don't argue with me, please!" You said, and without waiting for a response, you grabbed everything you could for them; clothes, food, a few supplies, and the golden trasure chest. "Take these. We don't have much, so it'll be a light load..." They continued to argue with you, but you helped your mother and Tamaini helped your father get to the door; the thieves laughter was all around you now.
"I can't do this..I can't leave my daughter behind.." Your father said, his weak eyes stared at you. You shook your head.
"You're not. I'm the one making you go -- now go!" You said sternly, and they all stared at you.
"Sister, why can't --?"
"Because. You have to stay with father and mother. The thieves aren't here yet -- you have time to get to the stables! Go!" You said, and without another word, they left. You watched as they dissapeared into the darkness, and you didn't know if you'd see them again. You ran back into your house to retrieve your bows and arrows., and ran back outside to the chaotic village. People were running, children were screaming, blood was everywhere.. What in Ra's name am I doing..? I'm only sixteen, I can't possibly -- damn, they're here!" You heard someone's deep voice behind you.
...Who?
"My, my...what a pretty little thing you are. You seem to be all alone...but don't worry, I can fix that..." You turned around and saw a middle-aged thief walking toward you, blood smeared across his face. Disgusted and surprised, you readied your bow.
Standing in the middle of the choas was a tall, well-built young man. His clothes were ripped and torn, exposing his muscular chest. Blood dripped from his arms, and his white hair shone in the flames. He had the most psychoatic look in his eyes; the fire in them seemed more intense than the ones aroud you. He was staring at you, his mouth curved into a smirk. He took the dagger he had lodged in his arm, and smiling even more broadly at you, took his tongue and slid it across the blade. His bloody smile sent shives down your spine, and you gasped. You knew who this was by the scar that shone in the fire: you had run straight into the web of the Thief King, Bakura.
oO; He's a psycho.
