Changing the color of your eyes with theatrical costume contact lenses is a good way to change your look for a special event or party. However, when it comes time to purchase a pair, things can become a bit tough. Do you need a prescription for lenses if you don't need to fix your vision? Isn't it possible to purchase lenses without a prescription if you are just going to wear them some times?
When it comes to colored and costume contact lenses, a wide variety are available in non-corrective versions, but there are also non-prescriptive lens.
Non-corrective contact lenses.
Since they are not used to fix vision, these lenses are simply worn to change or reinforce the appearance of the wearer's eyes.
Those that only want to alter their appearance with colored or costume lenses may feel that since they don't need vision correction that they don't need a prescription for their contacts.
Non-prescriptive contact lenses. Non-prescriptive lenses on the other hand, are completely different. These lenses are marketed and distributed to consumers who have not received a lens prescription from an approved eye care specialist.
Since the lenses aren't fitted to the wearer's eyes, they may fit too firmly and forestall the eyes from receiving sufficient oxygen. Ill-fitting contacts may also rub on the eyes causing redness, irritation and blurred vision.
In addition, the wearers don't receive instructions for proper lens care and cleaning from the stores where the lenses are purchased. This dearth of data regularly leads to poor lens hygiene, a higher chance of lens sharing and swapping and a raised risk of eye infections. Prolonged use of non-prescriptive contacts together with a lack of proper lens cleanliness can end up in dreadful eye damage that may result in blindness or the requirement for a corneal transplant.
Everyone can agree that colored contact lenses and costume lenses offer a fun, simple way to change your appearance ; however, you should be bound to take the necessary cares by visiting an approved eye care expert, getting a prescription and only buying lenses from sanctioned distributors.
Some online stores could be unapproved sellers. This doesn't mean that all websites selling contacts are doing so without authorisation because there are several reputable, allowed contact sellers on the web. An authorized contact lens distributor will require that verify your prescription with the optician or ophthalmologist before selling you a pair of lenses.
