You gazed up at the sky again, looking over at the land of Egypt from your plane, which you had boarded this morning. It felt strangely reassuring to be back in your home lands; away from the clutter and confusion of Japan. But you still had a choice to make; when you were eight, you could either stay in Egypt or go and live in Japan. Eventually you decided you would make that decision when the time came. But just then you wanted to go back to a familiar place, and also to see Marik. You were only away for a day or two but still it had felt like forever with Marik not there.
As you stepped off the plane, you breathed in the old scent of sand that had been warmed for hours under the golden sun. You smiled; you were home, and you would never leave it, no matter what. When you turned eight, you wouldn't leave at all, or that was what you thought. As you walked home, savoring every moment of Egypt, you came across a market place that was overflowing with rich and dazzling items for sale. You looked at all of the priceless things with envy, and adored looking at all the necklaces and earrings and things you couldn't possibly afford.
Out of the corner of your eye you saw a clearly wealthy salesman about to throw a black book into a waste basket. "Wait!" you called out. "Why are you throwing away this book?" you asked, curiously. The man glared at you as though you were a nasty street urchin and nothing more. "It is just a useless blank notebook," sneered the man, "Nobody would ever buy it." You caught the mans arm as he was about to toss it away, and asked in your most pleading voice, "Sir, could I please have it? I only have one silver coin; will that do?" The man considered the offer; it was either throw it away or earn a coin, so in the end he decided to give you the book for your coin. You took the book in your arms, and opened the covers, staring at the blank pages with interest.
Um, why are we staring at a blank book? (Me: Because we find it interesting. I like blank books)
It feels so good to be back in Egypt! (Me: Yeah, sure does! I hope we never leave!)
Why did we buy it anyway? What could we use it for? (Me: Ever heard of a little thing called writing?
The sand crunched beneath your feet as you finally neared the tomb; it was getting to be near sunset and you couldnt wait to see Marik. You quietly slipped underneath the trap door and trod down into your room to set down your pack. After doing this you strayed out of your bedroom and went to find where Marik was. You found him half asleep in his room, muttering things that little boys tend to mutter when they are totally out of it. You shook him lightly, startling him, and he sat up right away. "SAMI!" he yelled, leaping on you and hugging you almost to death. "Choking, not breathing!" you managed to breathe out, and he let go of you, bouncing around the room excitedly. "So how was it, what happened, did you have a good time, did you make any new friends?" You watched him jump up and down for about a minute until he calmed down. "It was good, I met some lawyers, I had a good time and I met a boy called Noah!" you answered. Marik calmed down and sat down on the bed; you following him shortly after.
You wrapped your arms around him and whispered "I missed you so much Marik! I dont ever want to leave you again; even for a day!" Marik smiled at you and returned the embrace, obviously happy to see you back again. He yawned, and you grinned. "You're tired, you should get some sleep. I should too, actually." With those words said, you kissed him gently on the forehead, and left the room, his smiling face still etched into your mind. (Thats all she wrote, folks, finished for now!)
Aw, that was the sweetest thing ever! Marik and I are so perfect together! (Me: Yeah, but things could change)
YAY! EGYPT EGYPT EGYPT! (Me: Hyper today, are we?)
We need to kill that boy, honestly, he gets me so ticked off. (Me: Deal with it)
Well, like I said; that is all she wrote! I hope you liked it; next chapter will be up sometime. Well, if you liked it, please message me, if not, don't message me, simple as that! See ya!
