My husband and I decided to go on a trip to Banff up in Canada with the family last weekend. To be succint, it was wonderful. What we ended up doing was actually going camping out in the bush! :) You can imagine what a time that was, ha ha. We were a little afraid of bears at first, and suprisingly, we actually saw a mother bear and a cub at our campfire (while we were in our car, thank goodness!). I think they were actually attracted by our succulent cooking!

I loved the fact that we were able to spend quality time with our family. Nick and Eddie were there as well as Anna from Italy, and of course my husband, so we were all together happily. My husband even managed to hold his temper in check while we cooked our food. That man is an animal when he is hungry and looking to cook a steak! We decided to bring along some new copper cookware instead of the old iron pots and pans that we've been using for the last 20 years. It was actually wonderful and we cooked a lot of steaks, had a lot of barbecues around the campfire each night. We also had marshmallows, and some weiners. There was a delicate french sauce that I was able to make that the copper cookware saute pan didn't burn, imagine cooking THAT out in the boonies. No, we didn't have any hanky panky around the campfire, our cousins were there and would have given us a lickin' for that I'm sure!

We went to see Maligne Lake, and also we saw some five lakes that looked like they were gems. You wouldn't believe it, but we were able to cook and start a new campfire every night (it helps to have a husband who knows how to find campsites on the internet). All in all it was a night to remember.
