"What?" the both men echoed disbelievingly. Jake was red-faced, from explaining it over and over again in frustration. My face was red because I was so excited, it felt as if my adrenaline level was working to the max.

"That's right! That is right! That is so right--"

"We get it," Brandon said briskly, cutting off Jake's sentence. His father shot him a glare. "This is all your fault. I told you not to date such a reckless bitch since things like this would happen--"

"How the hell was I supposed to know?! I'm not god! I didn't even want this stupid life in the first place; you just dump it all on me!" he seethed, turning around to face Jake. "How the hell did you know all of this?"

"I..."

Jake shot a glance towards me, and I shook my head, looking back towards him worriedly. "I have my sources," Jake finally but reluctantly told. He kept shooting me discreet glances that I felt as if I should nail his eyeballs back to its socket firmly.

"Call it off," Richard said, looking intently at Jake...

And suddenly, Richard looked at me as if I was the most interesting puzzle in the world. That made my heart skipped a beat. Damn it Jake! I knew I should've go ahead and nail his eyeballs!

"Wha-- you want me to do this?" Brandon gawked. "I'm just 17 for god's sake!"

"After what you pulled off and your current reputation to the industry, I do not care."

Brandon looked as if he could kill. Who could blame him? The news was sudden, and...

"I'll go!" I said, grinning.

...And I felt as if he was under so much tense lately that for some reason, I need to be with him...just to make sure that he was fine and wouldn't do anything stupid. "I mean, I'll go with you," I said. Richard gave me a look again.

It was the look that Brandon had when he was trying to put the final piece of the puzzle in place.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"IN YOUR FACE!" I screamed, and Brandon's lips twitched slightly. I could tell he was trying to be as professional as he could. But the look on the Navy Blue Suit Man and his Suitcased-Sidekick was just priceless after he told them.

Damn, I wished I had a camera to record this.

While Brandon put on a professional smile, I stuck out my tongue. I didn't know why, but I felt as if it was my duty. Brandon looked as if he wanted to be childish and...crazy and you know...be a teenager too.

But it was hard to believe that he could do that in front of those two men.

After a couple of hours (and with Brandon discussing something to his father about the H&L merger. I heard things like they were going to 'screw the contract'), we went back home and Jake confronted me a couple of times.

I told him the same thing over and over again. Who would believe me? I was just a nobody. The slave to the Compton's household. The deal was still on, mind you. Or else I wouldn't have a definite 'home'.

But as I walked back into the lavish hall they had in their manor, I felt as if I wasn't just a 'slave' anymore. It was a cruel word, after all. Maybe I overreacted and--

"Shit. I want you to wash the floor to the halls so clean that I want to see you to be able to lick it later."

...Or...maybe not.

I pulled a sour face, and he threw his head back and laughed. "You're joking," I said as a matter-of-factly. "I'm not such a bad bastard you know," he said, winking. I rolled my eyes. "Like I would believe that."

He playfully frowned. "Ouch."

I laughed. "Come on, let's go!" I urged, taking his hand and practically dragging him upstairs. If only he wasn't heavier than me...

"Brandon!" I whined when he put all of his weight to his feet just so he could stay on the ground. He even gripped the railings. "What if I don't want to?" he retorted as I grabbed one of his arm with both of my hands, pulling him.

"But why?"

"We have an elevator, dumbass."

Oh.

In one swift motion, he yanked me harshly towards him so that I would tumbled downwards, and as I thought that I might crash and fall, he scooped me up in his arms in that bridal style thing. Mm, this was better than a rollercoaster.

"God, you're so heavy," he teased. I slapped his shoulder, hard as he continued laughing as if he didn't even notice that I had hit him. "Shut up!" I said, rolling my eyes. The elevator was situated at the very back of the hallway, it's not really amazing or noticeable.

But it's fast.

"You know, we should really climb up the stairs," I said. "It's good for our health."

"Yeah, this coming from a girl who doesn't even follow her on exercise schedule and eats 4 foot long subs."

"Stop exaggerating," I replied curtly. "It's only a foot."

And it was only one time!

...Or maybe twice...

Was it thrice?

"Go to my room later," Brandon whispered. "It has less crappy view than yours."

"HEY!" I gasped, sticking out my tongue.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, he was right. It was facing the sunset.

"I'm so tired," I groaned, popping the jellybeans into my mouth. I've changed into something more comfortable earlier after I showered. "So...so tired," he echoed, taking a swig out of the soda bottle. "I still can't believe what happened," I said, looking towards the cool purple sky.

In less than one day, we arrived from Winnipeg to Detroit, went to the Compton's office, got lemonade spilled all over me, heard Evelyn Spencer discussing a plot to sabotage the Compton Industries with the BCME, and confront everything with the BCME representatives...

And made it home before sunset.

"Is this what your life like?" I asked, munching on the jelly worms now. "So high-paced...it's like everything could happen at the same time...like, 4 things could happen in one minute or something?" I said, rubbing my eyes. I was really sleepy.

"You could say so," he replied. "But you'll learn how to cope with it."

"How?"

"Caffeine and sugar."

I grinned and chuckled. "How about sleep?"

"Yeah when you're running around here and there, you have to learn to forget how to sleep."

"That sucks."

"Very."

"You're just--"

"Seventeen," we said in unison, and laughed. "I know," he said. "I'm really aware of that fact actually. I don't feel like I'm seventeen. I don't feel like something-teen at all. I feel like crap," he said, cupping his face with his hands. "Especially now."

I patted his back sympathetically. "Where are you going after graduation?" he asked softly. I shrugged and opened a can of some fizzy drink. "I'm thinking of working somewhere...start off small," I said. "Save my money and open my own store or something."

"No thoughts of college?"

"How can I?" I scoffed. "I have no talents at all, I'm not an A student too," I said, giving a wary smile. "I've got no scholarships of any sorts, so until then..."

He shrugged. "I'll pay."

"Asshole," I said, laughing. I so thought he was making fun of me or something, but when I turned to look at him, there was no slight twinkle of mischief in his eyes. He wasn't even laughing. "Are you out of your mind?" I said in a bare whisper. "I've troubled you enough, Brandon. I won't let you do something of this sorts."

And I was pretty sure he was having a hard time dealing with his finances right now, with the H&L merger and everything. "I don't mind," he said. "Consider it as a gift," he said, nodding towards the sunset. "Beautiful isn't it?"

"Yeah, but a gift for what?" I said. I was aware that I was missing the sun setting, but this was just too big. Did you know how much college fees cost nowadays?! It nearly gave me a heart attack.

"Let's just say...for not burning down the kitchen," he said, winking. He went over closer and turned my head towards the sunset. "You're stressing too much."

"This...from a guy who doesn't even know how to sleep."

He laughed, and we watch in silent until the sunlight fades away, and a crescent moon took its place high up in the sky. "Thank you, Brandon," I said. I wished I could say more, something more amazing than the word 'thank you'.

He had done so much for me. He deserves a break.

"For what?"

"Everything," I replied, shrugging. "You're not the bad boy I thought you are after all."

"Pfft," he said, making a sound. I just continued laughing. "What ever happened to the H&L merger?" I asked, out of curiosity. "We're breaking the deal off," he said, stifling a yawn. "We have to pay a sum of money since we're breaking the contract though, but who cares," he said stiffly.

"You'll guys be fine," I said, a bit absent-mindedly. Money matters scared the shit out of me.

"You probably need some sleep," I whispered, smiling. He shook his head, and for a fraction of a second, he brought his lips down to mine and I didn't try to push away. Instead, I kissed him back passionately.

It was like hunger you can't satisfy with these stupid gummy worms.

I ran a hand through his hair, and my other hand went to the back of his neck. He started to move his lips to my neck. After a while, I pulled his lips back to mine again, and we were making out in what...at least 30 minutes.

It felt like that though.

No wait, it felt like 6 hours, at the least!

Err, but that won't be logical.

Suddenly, I heard a very familiar ringtone, and I started to mentally curse. His wife was calling for him, and we all knew how much he loved his wife more than anything else.

No wait! Wives. Plural, since he had a BlackBerry, and iPhone and a Sony.

"Brandon, phone," I said in-between kisses. As if realizing the sound for the first time, he pulled away from me and took out his phone.

Before turning it off and tossing it to the small table near us.

Oh my god.

It was a Christmas miracle (never mind the fact that it's in Summer right now).

"Now. Where were we?" he said, turning his attention to me and smirking.
