Most people do not pay sufficient consideration the design of their business cards when marketing their corporations. Oftentimes, designers simply slap contact information and a sign on a business card or, even worse, stuff it with so many images and colors that the design becomes gaudy and overshadows the card's intent, which is to convince potential clients of one's expertise and professionalism and encourage them to initiate contact.
Must know fact about business card design
This is a list of business card design fact and fiction. Following these rules will put you on the right direction to designing a great business card that will deliver plenty of answer from potential customers.
Fiction
The more graphics you put on your card, the more sales it will generate.

Fact
The use of graphics should be limited to a sign and a picture. Essential information can be overshadowed by other graphics besides the symbol and photo. White space is your friend; make use of it to separate information and make the most significant elements stand out.
Fiction
More information equals more responses.

Fact
A business card represents advertising in its easiest form. Business card might be in the buyers possession for weeks, months or even years before they contact you; therefore do not include promotions, sales, etc... on the card By then, your sale might be terminated, but you'll be required to honor the special because you included it on your business card. Must have elements on a great business card:
* The card-issuer's name
* The card-issuer's title
* The name of the company or organization
* Address
* Phone number(s)
* E-mail address
* Website URL
* Tagline
* A brief list of products and/or services
* Logo
* Optionally, a business card can include a picture or company hours
The card should be easy to read; you should use font like Arial and Times New Roman.
Fiction
All business cards should look similar.
Fact
Business card can vary from person to person, company to company and industry to industry. Great business cards are meant to stand out from the crowd. The key to making a business card stand out is by using a rare blend of colors and design elements. Always try to make your business card distinguished from the rest; you can accomplish this by even just underlining a section. The card-issuer's photo does not have to be the only design element; you can use storefronts, products and even real estate. For example, if you have a business that works on a schedule like a radio station, you can set your business design apart by adding extra information on the back of the card. A folded card which practically gives you the space of four business cards gives the opportunity to load the card with product-offering lists and other information.
Business cards can be designed both horizontally and vertically; thus you can be as innovative as possible in a 3.5-inch by 2-inch space.

Fiction
Paper doesn't matter.

Fact
Fragile paper, perforated edges and paper company brand names cheapen your card, thus cheapen your impression on potential clients. On the other hand, to impress your customers, you should use professional paper; it is relatively inexpensive and less of a hassle to deal with. You have the option of using 13-point matte paper or 14-point gloss paper, they add class and credibility that can't be matched by standard paper.

Fiction
There is no need for professional printing, they just want my money.

Fact
Inkjet, deskJet, copiers: It doesn't matter; none of them can come close to matching the quality of professional printing ink. Just like paper, the quality of your business card ink denotes the quality of your service, and the two work hand-in-hand to make your buyers take you seriously and boost your return on investment. I can guarantee that you will regret it, if you don't to use professional ink; this ink is designed to bright, full and fade-resistant, unlike regular ink.
