Chapter Selector

Starless night, though complaints may cross my lips…

Listen carefully to what I say Cinderella. You must return before midnight.

We always dream to live a life where we could be loved for who we are and not just because of our outside appearances.

We long for a life that is as simple and easy like a fairytale, even if it’s just a delusion, at least we undergo “happiness”.

We always want what we can’t have, but is that so wrong?

Aren’t we free to dream? Aren’t we free to want? Aren’t we free to feel the way we feel?

…Wasn’t I free to love him and be with him?

Theme #2 – Magical Midnight

Song Inspiration: Starless Night – OLIVIA inspi’REIRA (TRAPNEST)

He held out his hand to me, “You coming or not, little miss flat chest?”

“You, little piece of cocky shit, you don’t even deserve to be with someone like him!” A dark haired girl poisonously glared daggers at me.

I stared at his proposition, unsure of whether to accept or else he’d bother me about it tomorrow morning.

I was pinned against the wall under their gazes of derision like a trapped rat before the mercy of its predators. Their laughs were icy sharp and their words were bitter and filled with acidic spite.

“Whatever,” I grabbed onto his hand, letting him lift me up to the roof of the building.

My left cheek reddened from the astounding “bitch slap” I’d just received as a present from my “respectable” upperclassmen. My cell phone was crushed into tiny bits unfortunately, but hey, I always wanted a new one.

It’s true about what they say about the cool country air, it really was fresh and pure. I exhaled deeply and stared into the distance. Most would think nothing of a wide expanse of trees but it was more than just an observation like that alone.

“Don’t look down on us just because you’re dating him, you slut!” Another screeched, her nose crinkled and hung up high in the air.

“So what do you think?”

It was a grand area of greenery like an easel with an array of tints of the same colour. I could tell by the light beams flowing down from the round heavenly body hanging from the blackness above us.

“Hello? Earth to little miss flat chest, you feeling alright,” I snapped my head in his direction and he looked somewhat concerned.

It was just like in elementary school, it was all just bulling. Why didn’t his girls ever grow up? God, they were annoying. What was this, third grade?

“…Yeah, it’s nice up here.” I looked down at my feet, dangling from the periphery of the roof.

His hazel irises glittered under the moon, appearing like two precious stones contrasting the black, “You’re acting weird, even for you.”

A lighter brunette with bouncy curls honked, “He’s probably just dating you because he feels sorry for an ugly fat ass girl like you~”

I turned to look at him and pouted in good humor, I suddenly didn’t feel like fighting him tonight, “Why you worried?”

“Of course I am,” He laid back upon the cold roof tiles below him. His hands situated behind his head like a makeshift pillow.

“Yeah, who’d ever like someone so fucking useless and stupid like her, right?” The second piped again.

I peeked at him silently, swiftly returning to study the moon. I didn’t want to admit anything and I wasn’t completely sure why. Usually I would speak up but my mouth was sewn tightly shut and my throat was parched.

“It’d be best if you listen to your upperclassmen’s advice,” The first smiled down at me,” and stay away from him. Maybe then we wouldn’t have to resort to beating the crap out of you.”

They all laughed, leaving me behind in my so called “solemnity”, I called it, “finally being liberated from those aggravating little hyenas”. I thought my ear drums were going to burst, but then again, the thought of it doesn’t sound too unappealing, it’d mean that I wouldn’t have to put up with their “teasing”.

I wasn’t completely immune to their taunting, sure I was used to it, but it still made me feel kind of sore.

He broke the silence, “There are no stars out.”

“Huh…?” I shifted my head to look at him, to see him staring straight at me.

“Yeah, there aren’t any.” I hastily agreed, electing to draw my attention elsewhere.

He finally sat back up and drew himself closer to me, “What?”

“I was lying.”

I looked up at the sky.

…So he was.

“You know what,” He sighed and flipped his body so that was laid on his back with his head on my lap, “I’m sleepy.”

Stay away.

“On my lap,” I frowned and he smiled boyishly in response.

He then pouted, “You don’t care if your perfectly handsome mega star boyfriend catches a cold, little miss flat chest?”

Stay…

“Not really,” I unconsciously began to stroke through the tresses of his somber shade of sea green hair. It grew longer, by at least two inches or so.

“Hmm,” He muttered and his lashes fluttered closed.

Away!

I wouldn’t think much of it.

Just stay away from him!

I couldn’t do something like that.

Those girls weren’t even worth being tormented by and the pain brought on I found was worth it.

I didn’t care much, about getting hurt or taking such a huge risk and in the end, losing everything in the gamble.

I didn’t mind as long as I was with him. My prince.

Or else your magic will disappear and you will have nothing.

…I want to believe in your warmth.

To be continued.

AN: So how is everyone?? I hope no one is bothered when I decided to write this one-shot in the first person - I'm sorry I needed a different pace. I'd like to point out that we've sucessfully passed the half-point of our contest, thus we have only six more oneshots left to complete. I'd also like to properly thank you, my readers forsupporting me during this project. So, domo arigatou. ;) Until the next update~
