You’re too nice; you can’t tell the tiniest lie…

He stared incredulously at her, “You’re what?”

Ryoga watched her as the flat chested girl rushed cheerfully right out of the classroom that day. The squealing and compliments aimed at him was heard deaf in his ears and everything seemed to move slower.

Yukari smiled, a light blush dusted the apples of her cheeks, “I’m going to tell him.”

He didn’t like it.

Ryoga didn’t take her seriously and laughed, “You’re kidding! You don’t have the guts little miss flat chest!”

Hazel irises narrowed as he stood up, grabbing his bag and ignored the smiling faces, sparkling with dedication and admiration. His facial expression hardened from its usual teasing nature, it was almost cold. He left the classroom, not even looking back once.

“I’m not, dumb pervert.” She pouted her full glossy lips.

Usually, Ryoga would leave with his flat chest childhood friend, but, today wasn’t a usual day however.

“Hehe,” He snickered and tussled up her orange blonde locks, “I’ll be rooting for you.”

To put it simply, he was ditched and he was more than just aggravated that she left him behind for his best friend.

Theme #7 – Sugar and Spice

Song Inspiration: Futari – Ikimono Gakari

“What does he have that I don’t? I mean, I’m better looking than him.” Ryoga grumbled underneath his breath. His hands were dug deep in his pockets.

He nibbled experimentally at the biscuits she offered him, carefully savoring the flavor of cinnamon on his taste buds. The fluid mixture of sugariness and spice overflowed. He noticed her study him intently and he would have laughed but he didn’t want to sacrifice his life at such a young age.

“So what do you think of my cookies?” She finally spoke.

He stared down at his cell phone; the screen flashed green and read half past seven. Rinko would freak if he would come home later than eight, he’d have to haul his butt over to the bus stop or else, he’d break “curfew”.

He nodded his head, “Pretty good... for a flat chested shrimp like you.”

He groaned, stretching his arms to the sky and entered the park, knowing it was a good short cut.

Yukari thwacked his shoulder, “Dumb ass!”

Ryoga laughed heartily, tears forming at the corners of his eyes.

It was there that he saw her.

Yukari tied a blue ribbon around the small bag of confectionary, “I really hope he likes them.”

She didn’t notice the tinge of sadness in his eyes, “Yeah.”

“Hey, little miss flat chest!” He jogged over to her side and brushed away his jealousy, “What’s u…”

“Hey dumb pervert,” Ryoga looked down at Yukari.

“What?”

Yukari smiled softly, “Thank you.”

Ryoga just seemed to stop breathing for a moment and somehow a wave of relief washed over him.

His best friend was standing lip locked with a lowerclassman. Her hands running through his hair and his hands wrapped gently around her waist.

Ryoga looked down and saw Yukari for another second. Her whole body was quivering and seemed like it really was made of fragile glass. Her bangs hid away her pain but it was apparent to him.

She was going to cry.

Ryoga gripped her hand, taking her far away from the scene that was now probably burned forever in her memory.

They walked alone together under the lonely moon.

She stopped moving and ripped her hand away from his warm touch, “You knew… didn’t you?”

Ryoga was quiet and stared down at Yukari.

She walked over to him and grabbed his shoulders, shaking them with all her force, “Why…Why didn’t you tell me…? WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME HE WAS SEEING SOMEONE ELSE?!”

Ryoga remained silent and firmly stood his ground.

“Is this some kind of sick joke you’re both playing on me Ryoga? Because you’re being too cruel, or… or maybe it wasn’t him right? Yeah, tell me, it wasn’t him, Ryoga.” Her lavender irises were desperate. They hungered for the truth she was seeking or the sweet lie that she wanted to hear.

“DAMN IT RYOGA! TELL ME,” Yukari sobbed and her grip loosened. Her hands trailed down from his shoulders to hold his shirt, “…tell me before I lose my mind.”

Ryoga wasn’t about to tell her the truth. He was reluctant to speak about him. He didn’t want to hurt her anymore than she already was.

…He couldn’t do this to her, but he did.

“Her name is Arisa. They’ve been dating for the past three months.” His tone was straight and cut her lungs short of air.

Yukari slapped him.

“You bastard…” She muttered over and over, “FUCK YOU, YOU BASTARD!!”

Yukari bunched her fists and punched Ryoga, bruising his tan skin. She unleashed her heartache and fury, tears streamed down her face. Her strength died out after a few more minutes and her legs gave out.

He was about to catch her but she caught herself.

She looked up at him, “How could you do this to me?”

He knew he was being selfish.

He pulled her forward and crushed her with his weight. His lips hungrily met hers and she was powerless. He forced her mouth open with his wet appendage, stealing her every breath and never letting her break away to breathe. He’d forcefully taken the innocence of her lips.

His arms bound her to his chest, locking her in a suffocating embrace. He poured all of his passion into the kiss, trying to communicate his feelings. She couldn’t fight against him; her passing wrath had left her weakened. Tears began to flow once more, staining his reddened cheeks.

He wanted her for himself that was all.

…When my hand seems like it’ll slip out of yours, you hold it tight.

To be continued.
