Camilla starred down at the ground as we walked. I would have done the same thing but my eyes wouldn't move. There was an empty, depressed, gloomy look on her. In the past two months of being in three of her classes, I've seen this look before. The day before she got sick, her eyes were wide, skin pale like Edward Cullen's and for some reason her straight-as-a-pencil bangs seemed much too long and simply not.. straight? Was Cam actually sick?
The guilty feeling crept over me. But then I remembered she wore that look as if it were a mask. In gym class once a boy scolded her for letting the opposing team score. He, like many others, is one of those kids who think there is a trophy for every winning you make. I'd love to teach him a lesson. Especially when he belittles people. Especially when Camilla is one of those people...
Figuring this girl had a stronge liking for Halloween, I decided to talk about it. "I downloaded Thriller and the Monster Mash to my phone. Should we play it?" The words stumbled out as I asked.
A 'Thrilled' smile apeared and her face was instantly brightened. "I came up with my own dance to that song." Her voice trailed off in a phony braggart voice. I pretended to be stunned by that fact and walked backwards. The long street had lights all lined up it, but there were large circles of darkness around them. It felt like a movie scene. "Oh really? Well let me see it." My smile of triumph was bigger then anything. Until Cam came out with the same smile. I whipped my phone out and clicked the single button to get to the music. My eyes glanced down for a couple of seconds and the first song to come up was Thriller. The eery music started, the creaking door open. Without any hesitation Cam started her dance. Her arms were bent crokedly and she moved like a zombie in a circle. The long limbs of her bent in an awkward way until they settled into a K shape. On the first sharp beat the leg in the back flicked out repeatedly then stopped. The next beat the leg in the front along with her arms hunched in and out. Right after that she sprang into life and I decided to join in. Michael Jackson's hit song filled our ears and probably the rest of the street's. Camilla's expression looked like she was embarrased. "You're great!"
The expression changed into a reassured one. "Look who's talking!"
I attempted to moon walk but my feet suttered on the ground. Cam smirked as she glided by me doing the exact move. I turned around to laugh but I froze up. Cam hadn't noticed but Macy was right behind her. Right as she was about to smack into her, Macy moved over and allowed Cam to make a fool out of herself. She toppled over her own feet as Macy came into the view. " 12:00 means 12:00! Are you guys blind idiots who can't read a clock?" She freaked as soon as the silence was over. "Well clearly you are! You didn't even see us trying to get your attention from the top of the street!"
Even though I hated her attitude, I felt horrible. "Mace, we just needed to warm up. Relax."
Dressed in winter attire, the group shrugged it all off and we started a walk to the park. "It's critical that you guys show up on time.." Macey trailed off. I zoned out and started thinking about getting glow in the dark laces. But she caught my attention when she said Halloween. It didn't sound too good.
