The dry arrive, our trial run, coordinates the steps with the armed swing, from the starting position to the delivery position, but is done without the ball.
To begin, shorter persons standing approximately 2 feet in front of that 12 foot line. Taller person stand near the 12 foot line. Your work out the exact distance for your pro-steps as you get the feel of the Lincoln speed your steps.
Take three fast walking steps from the stance position to the foul line. Do not run, pulled along, or hesitate. On the third step, then the left knee just as he did in the one step delivery. The steps taken are left, right, left, and arm swing is down, back, forward. You're doing it correctly when you're able to finish at the foul line and pose.
Your steps and arm swing must be smooth and without hesitation. Most beginners have a tendency to run up to the foul line which results in complete loss of balance. Simply repeat the dry run until you slow down enough to maintain balance and poise. Instructor may be able to help you by taking your right hand and his left and going to the foul line with you. As soon as you have coordinated this smooth pendulum swing with three fast walking steps, you're ready to try it with the ball. This motion can be practiced at home using a steam iron or similar object that you can hang onto.
