The Attic- 8

“2 years ago, Tenmintella was a place that was peaceful, and ruled by a wise king. Then, a three-eyed, green monster that called himself ‘the Beast’ showed up. He made havoc. He demanded the throne, and when he didn’t get what he wanted, he destroyed everything.

He killed the wise king, King Sharm, he burned the towns and cities, he stole children, and he slaughtered everything he thought could be in his way. There was no way to stop him, so we played our last card. We made him king. He has been king for a year now, and now there are more slaves then people living in town. It’s horrible! You guys are our last hope. It is said in an ancient prophecy that two young saviors would save us when we were in dark peril. Here is how the prophecy goes:

‘When times are hard

And it seems chances slim

Two young, wise girls

will save us from the dim

Their hearts are right,

And they’re wonders inside

So hear them out, and wait on them well

For they will provide

The courage we need to defeat

Peril”

The girls were silent. “Any other young, brave girls showed up that we have to compete with?” Annie joked.

Nobody laughed. Annie whispered “Well Sarah, I think we have to do this.” Sarah nodded, her face pale. “Together, forever, we can do anything.” slipped out of her lips in a faint whisper. The girls grasped hands and said “Well Sasha, what do we do?”

“I haven’t totally finished my story yet.” Sasha replied pleasantly.

“The Beast wears a large, blood red pendent around his horrible neck. He boasts that in it, is his life. If it were destroyed, he would be destroyed, but he can not be killed in any other way. To kill him, you must destroy the pendent, which he keeps around his neck at all times, unless he is asleep, when he keeps it in a case, in a separate room, with a guard guarding it at all times. He claims he had the pendent made by a water nymph, the best craftsmen in our kingdom. Therefore, it will be really hard to destroy, but you have to do it. You children will have to DESTROY THE BEAST!!!!!!”
