We may know a friend or two, maybe more, who is into the profession or business of graphic design. Maybe some of you may have already heard the fact that these people earn $70,000 and more. Not bad.

Definition. Graphic design is the art and science of coming up with marketing and commercial visual solutions for a given medium. A graphic designer would choose which medium he or she would course his or her works to, but the main demand of the job is to come up with spectacular and eye-catching visuals that would aid campaigns and the likes.

What It Takes. One has to have the eye for good art and detail. A potential graphic designer must have a good sense of style, and must be able to make bring it out on a medium. Computer skills are needed because a graphic designer will be working on complex graphics software. It is required for a graphic designer to be meeting deadlines and working on long hours so good work ethic is highly needed.

How to Become a Graphic Designer. Just like any other profession, graphic designing is made to be not for everyone. If you have your eyes on how to become a graphic designer, then education is the first thing you need to procure. Associate degrees are now being made available in colleges and universities. For the highly skilled and experienced, a master’s degree in graphic designing would be a good option. Online courses on how to become a graphic designer are now available, too.

Specialties. The jobs and specializations of a graphic designer are quite diverse. One can design a website, or 3D art, logos, animations--- the possibilities are endless. A person may choose to be employed by a company, or he or she can go freelance.
