Tyler’s POV
I saw her by her locker after school. I ran up to her, “Look I’m really sorry. I am truly.” I said. She just slammed her locker and ran off. I sighed. Andy walked passed and patted me on the back.“I’m sorry man.” He said. “Look at the up side man. You are captain of the basketball team.”I started to get mad. I didn’t get why I wanted her now more than ever. “Basketball captain.” Andy repeated.“URGH! You can take my basketball captain role and shove it up your ass!” I yelled. I was mad at myself. Why was I so blind? Why was I so stupid?“Why?” he asked.“BECAUSE I DON’T WANT IT ANYMORE!” I yelled and ran off.
I saw her in a distance I quickly ran to her and grabbed her wrist. She stopped and turned around. “What do you want?!” she yelled.“I don’t want anything.” I said with my head down. She was trying to loosen my grip around her wrist.“Let go of me then.” She said stepped on my foot. I held in my pain.“It’s not about what I want.” I said.“What is it about then?!” she said.“It’s about what I need…” I said going on my knees.“What about it…” she said as she tried to loosen the grip.“I…need you…” I said.“W-w-what…?” she stuttered as I loosen my grip on her. “What are you trying to prove…?” she said still standing there.“Nothing… I just need you… I really love you…” I said looking at the ground.“W-w-why do you love me…?” she asked.“Why not.” I said.“Seri…ously. FREAKEN LEAVE ME ALONE!” Her voice sounded broken and torn apart, just like what I did to her heart.Ashley’s POV
I stood there motionless for a second. His hands were still holding on to my wrist. I wanted to forgive him, but what happens if he does it again? I sighed. “I won’t be stupid the second time; I learn from my mistakes.” I said as I ran off. I feel tears slowly sliding down my cheek.He ran after me, “Ashley, I really do love you.” He said. A car was speeding down the hill.“TYLER! CAR!” I yelled out. Before the car got to him I jumped in front of him. All of a sudden my body started to feel numb and everything blacked out.
Tyler’s POV
I woke up feeling really heavy. I slowly opened my eyes. “Uh! His awake!” I heard someone say. It was blurry, I tried sitting up but it was hard. The back of the bed slowly lifted up. I blinked a few times. I could see clearer now.“You alright?” Andy said looking at me.“Yeah…” was all I manage to say. My mum was next to me she was crying. I slowly moved my hands and put it on top of hers. She looked up and smiled. I looked around for Ashley. “Where is she?” I asked Andy.“Who?” he asked.“Ashley!” I yelled at him“She’s in the next room.” He said faintly.“Can you call her in?” I asked Andy.“Um… Sorry… But she is not stable at the moment.” He said looking down at his fingers.“What…? I do not understand.” I said.“You…see when the car came. She jumped in front of you and she got most of the damage.” He said. I slowly got off the bed.“You can’t move.” My mum said holding me back.“No mum I have to see her.” I said shaking her hands off my wrist.
I walked over to the next room. Her mum was by her side. I knocked on the door. Her mum looked at me, “You alright dear?” she asked me. I nodded. I looked at Ashley, she looked very fragile. My mum came over with the doctor.“Miss.” The doctor said looking at Ashley’s mum and then slightly glancing at me.“Yes…?” she sounded quiet scared.“Ashley is not really stable. After the accident her heart stopped for a few seconds. If this went on longer she would have died. Her heart is really unstable and fragile. She can only love with her heart for a few more days and then it’ll stop.” He said.“W-w-what…? N-n-no. This can’t be.” I shuddered.“I’m sorry; it’s just how it is. It can’t be helped.” The doctor said.
I walked back to my room; I stood there motionless looking out the window. I slammed my wrist on the table. “WHY WAS I SO STUPID!?!?” I said. I felt a tear drop sliding down my cheek. “Why didn’t I treat… her better…?” I quietly whispered to myself. “This can’t happen to her…” I whispered again. “I deserve everything bad that had happen to her!” I yelled out. I walked to my school bag that was sitting on the chair next to my bed I opened it; there was a message behind the lid, “Think with your heart not with your head.” It said. I cried. Something struck me like lighting. I ran over to Ashley’s room. The doctor was in there as expected. I walked up to him and said, “I want to give her my heart.”
I was at the front desk. I was twirling a pen around my fingers. “You sure you are going to do this?” the doctor asked me. I nodded. “Wow, what made you do this?” the doctor asked me.“I just wanted to save her… in any way I can, how do u life when my life is gone…” I said in a faint voice.“Life…?” The doctor said weirdly looking at me.“Yeah… You know that blog everyone has, the girl asks the guy would he choose her or his life and at the end the guy says that the girl is his life?” I said.“Yeah, my daughter showed me something like that.” He said, “There’s only one of you in the world.
Day of the operation
I walked into her room and looked at her; she was awake but very weak. I walked into the room. “Tyler…” she said grabbing on to my hands, “Don’t worry, I’ll make it…”“Yeah, you will.” I said stroking her hair.“You will be with me… when I’m done right…?” she said holding on to me tighter. I leaned down and kissed her.“I’ll always be with you.” I said, I was about to burst out crying.“Promise?” she asked.“Yeah… I promise…” I said faintly.“See you later.” She said smiling at me.“Bye, I love you…” I said walking out. I felt a single tear going down my cheek. Bye forever, I thought to myself.
Ashley’s POV
A week after the operation
I sat there waiting for him. I sat there with a box of sushi on the table waiting for him. Why was he taking so long, I thought to myself. The door opened my face lit up. It was Andy, “Eh? Where’s Tyler…?” I asked him. My voice started to break for no reason. He just handed me a phone.“Watch the video.” Andy said sitting down on the chair next to me.I pressed on the video, there was Tyler, and he was sitting on a chair and looking at the camera.“Hey, Ashley. How are you feeling? Any better? I hope you are. Dongseng neomu yeppeo~” he started to sing Replay by SHINee. I started to smile. When he was done, he looked serious. “Ashley you are everything I wish for in a girl, thanks for saving me when the car came. I really needed to pay you back for that…” He paused all of a sudden, “That’s why I gave you my heart.” He said smiling.“WHAT?!?” I snapped. “But he promised… he’ll be with me… forever…” I said. It felt like my throat was slowly closing. I continued to watch the video. Tears started to flood my eyes.“Remember when I promised I’ll be with you forever? I still am. Where ever you are I am with you because I am your heart. Remember I’ll always love you.” He said smiling. The video ended. I threw the phone to the door causing the window on the door to shatter.“You alright?” Andy said straightening me up.“If I say that I’m in pain, I’m scared that I’ll really be in pain, if I say that I’m sad, I’m scared that I will shed my tears, why don’t I just laugh, just laugh, just laugh… But people ask me why I’m crying…” I said as I sat there crying. “Why do I have a heart now? I don’t want it anymore.” I asked Andy.“Don’t say that.” Andy said patting my head.“If I don’t have a heart… I can’t feel the pain that I’m feeling now…” I said.
