I woke up to feel someone shaking me. My eyes fluttered open and I saw a blurry Troy. It took me a second to realize that the reason he was blurry was because I was crying. I sat up and wiped my eyes. I looked at him and saw worry etched into his face.

“Mel, I hate seeing you like that, it scares the shit out of me.” He said putting his hands on each side of my face. I smiled and felt silent tears fall down my face. His thumbs wiped them away and he kissed me. It wasn’t the hard intent of a werewolf in rut, it was a sweet, gentle, reassuring kiss of a man comforting the woman he loved. I buried my face into his chest and bawled. He rubbed my back in soothing motions. I heard the library door open and my head snapped up to see Stacy sneering in the doorway. I froze. She’d seen me at my weakest. Shit. I could feel my eyes go hard and my tears dry up. I slowly stood up and wiped my face.

“What are you doing here?” I asked quietly, though the threat in my words was evident. She crossed her arms and leaned on the doorjamb. She studied her nails and frowned as if she didn’t like what she saw. She sighed and looked up at me.

“I wanted a personal tour of the place; it’s been a while since I’ve been here and I was wondering if a certain someone would show me around the place.” Her eyes slid past me to Troy on the sofa. I didn’t have to turn to see who and what her eyes were resting on. I snarled quietly and took a step toward her. She ignored my advance.

“So, what do you say, huh, Troy?” She asked her voice seductive. Fire built up in me then became cold and icy. I snarled low and menacingly. She still didn’t look at me. I wanted to launch myself at her and tear her to shreds. Before I could indulge in my fantasy, someone spoke up.

“No. I’m sorry, but I have things to do today and I can’t tend to your every whim, Stacy.” Troy said getting up and putting his hand on my shoulder. The ice in me melted and I relaxed. I didn’t look at him though, my eyes were focused on the enemy, and right now it was standing in the doorway making a pouty face, meant to seduce.

“Awww, you can’t tell me you don’t still feel the things you did for me when we were little?” She said glaring at me. I narrowed my eyes and tensed again.

“No, I don’t, sorry Stacy.” He said wrapping his arms around me. Her face became angry, contorting it into an ugly mask, but then changed into a crushed and heartbroken girl who just got dumped by the guy she loved. She turned and ran down the hallway. I didn’t believe her for one second. I saw what was under that mask of hurt, and boy, was it ugly. I turned around and buried my face into his chest. He hugged me and rubbed my back soothingly.

“She saw me when I was weak.” I said in a pitiful voice. He sighed.

“I know. I’m sorry.” He said, his arms tightening.

“It’s not your fault.” I said into his chest.

“Kisses make it better?” He whispered in my ear. I looked up and his lips met mine. I melted into him, my sadness, anger, and hurt gone, replaced by need, love, and hunger. He deepened the kiss and I ran my hands across his chest to his shoulders and back again. He growled and cupped the back of my head with one hand and pressed his other hand to the small of my back. I sighed and opened my mouth for his entry. He didn’t hesitate. A knocking sound came from behind us and I turned to see Viktor clearing his throat. I frowned and kissed him one more time before I asked Viktor what he wanted.

“Can I help you?”I asked slightly annoyed.

“Yeah, the others are up and they’re hungry.” Viktor said like it was obvious.

“Then have Roza make them something.” I replied, furrowing my eye brows.

“Well, the thing about that is Roza’s sick and she can’t cook.” He said scratching the back of his head. I sighed. Poor Roza, she loved cooking and it was probably killing her not being able to cook.

“Okay, so why do you want me to do it?” I asked confused.

“Well, you’re the only one allowed in the kitchen and you’re probably the only one who hangs out in there and knows how to cook so yeah.” He said sounding ashamed. I sighed again, this time in exasperation.

“Fine, go ask them what they want and I’ll cook it.” I said walked away from Troy’s strong arms and out of the Library. I could feel his protest but I ignored it. I walked into the living room and saw all o the guys watching TV.

“’Bout time you got up! We’re starving.” One shouted. I clenched my fists and glared at him.

“In case you haven’t noticed, you’re the guests here, and do not order me around like I’m a maid.” I said menacingly. Viktor came up behind me and tapped me on the shoulder. I turned and gave him a ‘what do you want?’ look.

“Uh, in their pack, the uh, women, cook the food and do that stuff.” He said quickly. I gave him a wicked smile.

“I see.” I turned back around to the others and smiled. “Well, I know that the women in your pack do all of the work, but news flash,” My voice dropped the sweet quality. “You are in this house, and you are under another pack’s rules while you are here! So, if any of you think you can boss any of the women, boy you got another thing coming.” I was really angry now. They looked a bit pale.

“Now because our cook is sick, I will be cooking breakfast, but that is all I’m doing, got it?” I asked harshly. They all nodded. I smiled.

“Now, what does everyone want?” I said sweetly. Silence greeted me. I huffed and walked away.

“Fine, I’ll make eggs and bacon.” I could hear a murmur behind me and took it as a yes. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed out two pans, some cooking oil, three packs of bacon, two cartons of eggs and a spatula. I put the cooking oil in one pan and cracked eggs in another. I let the eggs cook and placed several pieces of bacon in the other pan. When I was done cooking I put the food on serving plates and brought them to the dining room. I put them on the table and motioned for a maid to go get the boys.
