Let me just start off by saying one thing: I have stupid friends.

They get all obsessed over dumb things like that one book about the stupid pale chick that can’t decide if she wants to date a vampire or a werewolf. I say neither, because if that were real, which it obviously isn’t, who would want to date a vampire? I think it’s really dumb.

Another thing they’re obsessed with is that Percy Jackson kid. Yeah, I read the books. So what? I actually liked them, until everyone else did. I read the fourth and fifth books only to complete the series, but I would have rather left them alone. Too many people were getting obsessed at that point. I had read them since 2005, when the first came out.

What was REALLY dumb was how they dragged me to the movie. They always did. That’s the only reason I knew about the vampire book thing. They made me sit through the movie.

The worst part was the star of the movie. He was this stupid guy, and all these girls were getting obsessed over him like he was the best thing since sliced bread. I didn’t get why they couldn’t just leave him alone. I’m sorry girls, but just because you have over 100 pictures of him on your computer doesn’t mean he’s going to like you. In fact, he will probably think you’re a stalker and run away.

I had it set in my mind to hate him even before I had seen him. I hated Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, and the Fro Bros, just to name a few. They were all teeny-bopper fads that people were eventually going to get over. I decided I would hate this Percy Jackson kid until the day I died, just like I hated those other guys.

So, we were at this movie. My friend Rachel’s aunt had been a producer or something, so she had gotten us to the Hollywood premiere and the after-party. When we got there, there were screaming girls, though it was nothing like the vampire movie. There were less, but the noise was still deafening.

I kept asking Rachel if any guy I saw was the star of the movie. She said she hadn’t spotted him. But when I did, I was going to give him a piece of my mind.

We didn’t walk the red carpet, but we entered the theater at the same time as some of the stars. The bouncers checked to make sure that we were on the list and then patted us down for security reasons. We were cleared, and then we entered inside.

That’s when I saw him.

He was wearing a tux, looking refined and formal, but that didn’t stop me from thinking he was the wildest one there. He laughed as he talked to groups of people I didn’t know, his blue eyes sparkling sweetly, invitingly. When Rachel’s aunt found us, she gave us giant hugs and asked us how we were doing.

“We’re doing awesome!” I said, beaming. I had already met a few celebrities.

“You look amazing, Sam!” Rachel’s aunt said, admiring my dress. It was sort of plain, just a normal little black dress, but I guess it made me look ‘amazing.’ I had worn my hair in an updo, and accessorized lightly, something I never did.

“You’re right she does!” said a voice from behind. I whipped around to see the guy I had laid eyes on earlier.

“I thought you were Zac Efron.” I murmured, blushing. He had sounded exactly like Zac.

“Yeah, I get that a lot.” He responded, smiling.

“That’s him.” Rachel murmured.

“Who?” the guy asked.

“You’re the star of Percy Jackson.” Rachel said, elbowing me.

“That I am.” The guy said, nodding.

“Logan! So nice to see you again! You look charming.” Said Rachel’s aunt.

“Thanks, you too, Giselle.” Logan said back, smiling politely.

“This is my niece Rachel and her friend Sam.” Giselle said, gesturing towards us.

Logan shook Rachel’s hand. “Hey, nice to meet you, Rachel. Your aunt is very cool.” He said.

“That’s easy for you to say.” Rachel said back, rolling her eyes.

Logan shook my hand. “And you’re Sam, right?”

“Yes.” I said softly as our hands touched. A shiver ran up my spine.

“Well, it’s nice to meet you.” Logan said back, not breaking eye contact with me. It’s like we were in a trance.

I kept telling myself to not do it, to not fall. I told myself not to let him get to me, and I tried to push him away in my mind. I tried to forget him, but it wasn't possible.
That was the moment from which I first fell in love with him.
