Do you have a home with the unusual architectural feature known as a bay window? This style was very popular during the Victorian era and has recently enjoyed a resurgence in modern homes. These windows add interest and enhancement to both the interior and exterior of the home. Bay window curtains must be carefully selected to use the window feature in an appealing manner.
The view inside the room is important, but what you want to be able to see through your window to the outside will affect how you manage the curtains. If you are interested in a beautiful view, you will want to limit the amount of curtains in front of the window. If the view is less spectacular, you can choose curtains that call attention to the window rather than the view.
The amount of privacy that you need will affect the type of curtains that are selected. Bright natural light into the room in the daytime is fairly common, but do you want more window coverage at night? On rare occasions, curtains that are not opened during the daytime would be selected.
Some bay windows are less bays than they are alcoves. This type of arrangement made even more elegant by curtains or drapes that completely cover the windows during night hours. The curtains that fit inside the frames are also attractive, but not nearly as dramatic. When the curtains are sheer or are opened during the daylight, they let in the natural light and view.
