It doesn't do you much good if you can hit a pitch, with a swing that has no power behind it.That's not going to take you very far in baseball.What you need to try to do is use a swing that sraws on about eighty to ninety percent of your power. Not only will is be more reliable and accurate, but it will feel like your sweetspot too. Trying to hit pitches as hard as possible all the time is bad news, and you won't get the results you're looking for. You will strike out a lot. Or, hit pieces of the ball that result in weak groundouts and lazy pop flies. What does it get you?
There's a chance you'll hit a few long home runs when you happen to catch the pitch on your bat's sweet spot.
So, how do we go about achieving our goal? First, we would like to see players begin developing the proper swing mechanics. Think about building a house--you need to start from the ground up.Like in other sports, we want to ingrain these concepts in our muscle memory. It should just happen, like putting your hand out when you fall down. I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't know how you should go about doing it.
