Phantasm ||Gustav Schäfer|| Chapter 1
Well, here's a story that I had been working on since late Dec last year. I'm quite happy with it though. Hopefully, you guys enjoy it too! Read the sneak peek chapter first before reading this as it might confuse you guys. If you have any feedback or if there is any spelling or grammatical errors, please feel free to tell me and I'll update it :) Enjoy~~Angela opened her groggy eyes and smiled. The dream that she just had was the most amusing episode she has ever had since she knew she could see ghosts. Gustav simply brought her to tears with his crazy self.
Angela could always see ghosts ever since she was young. She didn't know at first, though. Well, actually, all kids could see them but they just didn't know because most of them looked like normal human beings, only paler and duller but the kids don't give a damn, do they. She only realized when she was eleven, after finding out that the old lady she had been talking to after school had been dead for almost a decade. Raven never stopped believing in ghosts ever since. She just didn't remember being like Melinda from the television series "Ghost Whisperer".
She sat up and tied her messy hair into a bun, not forgetting to stretch her semi-frozen arms after that.
His smile still lingered in her mind and so did his expression after a random dog chased him back into the house, leaving Raven in fits of laughter.
Amusing, Angela thought to herself as she walked to the kitchen to make her grumbling stomach some breakfast.
Somehow, Angela kind of wished that her dream actually came true. Gustav was an interesting character. She had never seen any ghost that was like him.
"Too bad it was a--Fuck!"
Eggs in the air. Bacons too as Angela's ceramic plate crashed and broke into pieces on the cold, hard floor.
Right in front her, stood the exact same blonde that invaded her dreams, with the same flashing neon board above his head.
"Gustav?" Angela managed to croak out.
Gustav just smiled, like an innocent young boy, while waving his right hand.
He beamed, "Good morning! I was waiting for you to get up. We were suppose to find the door to heaven today..."
Angela just stood, rooted at the same spot, as she stared at Gustav, speechless and dumbfounded.
So it wasn't a dream after all, She realized, her eyes slowly widening.
"What the hell?"
Gustav stopped talking and stared at her, "What about hell?"
Angela shook her head in response and groaned. Okay, she wanted to take back what she almost said a minute ago. It wasn't 'too bad' that it was a dream. In fact, Angela still wished that she was still in that dream and she was actually nicely curled up in her bed as she waited for the Sun to rise.
"The next time, please make a noise before making my heart jump." Angela warned, getting on her knees as she picked up her breakfast only to sigh when she realized that she had to make breakfast all over again.
A deep guilt rushed into Gustav and he frowned. In an instant, he got to his knees to and helped to pick up the mess, easily grabbing the scrambled eggs onto his hands and picking up the pieces of ceramic.
He looked up, "What?", upon realizing that a pair of emerald eyes were fixed on him in wonderment and awe.
Angela just stared at his hands, amazed, before Gustav understood and chuckled.
He scratched the back of his head, "I had a-lot of practice last night, when you were asleep."
"You did?"
Gustav nodded, "Yeah but I made sure I didn't make any noise so as to not wake you up."
Impressive, she thought, smiling to herself.
Now, Gustav was really interesting. Well, despite being annoying, he was actually quite warm. His radiant smile that brighten his fair skin. His eyes, they were so alive. Gustav, himself, looked alive unlike all the other spirits that she had seen.
Maybe there was more to him than a spirit lost in this world.
----------
"Gustav, I'm heading off to school. Please try to stay in the house-"
"Can I come along?" He cut Angela's words, only to receive a death glare from her.
"But it's so boring to stay here and Shampoo won't play with me." Gustav added as Angela sighed in defeat.
Gustav beamed like a child, flashing his white pearls.
Angela bent down and stroke Shampoo's fine fur that were tainted brown with a hint of black. She stared into it's blue eyes before kissing Shampoo's nose, her affection for her cat stronger than anything else, "You be a good cat, okay? I'll be back later in the afternoon."
Shampoo purred, as if it understood every word tat came out of her owner's mouth. It was only a young cat, destined to see many great things as time were to pass by but it was really sad when Shampoo got beaten up by some teenage boys at the park, leaving it bruised and broken before passing on.
Angela saw everything and couldn't help but take Shampoo in, as a ghost of course, and ever since, they had been inseparable.
"You're quite close with Shampoo, huh?"
Angela smiled as Gustav put on his safety belt, which only made her smirked in amusement.
She replied, "Yeah, I guess I am."
Silence then invaded as Angela started her car's engine, before driving off her porch, feeling eyes on her as her vehicle passed by old buildings.
"So…" Gustav's voice drifter into the silence.
She cocked her eyebrow, "Yeah?"
"How did Shampoo end up with you?"
Angela sighed. She didn't like telling about Shampoo's past because it wasn't a chapter that should be repeated over and over again.
"She just didn't want to cross over." Angela replied, trying make it as short as possible.
"Oh." Was all that she heard after.
Once they reached Angela's school, Angela took off her seatbelt and looked at Gustav, instantly making him jerked.
"Listen, I'll help you but you have to promise me that no one knows about this. I can only handle you right now and I would appreciate it if you would, you know, keep it quiet about me helping you."
She passed him a paper bag and pushed her locks behind her ear. Gustav opened and smiled. Cat food was inside.
"There's a bunch of homeless kittens at the back and I can't feed them since I'm having classes." Angela explained.
"Do you think you can help me feed them? And there is a couple there too. They're pretty nice and I'm sure you'll enjoy their company till I end school. At least, you won't be bored."
Gustav nodded and thanked her silently. Angela was kind. Even though she wouldn't admit the fact that she likes to help people, she's really one of a kind.
"So I'll meet you back here at?"
"I'll come by over there at around 5." She answered, slamming the door shut before adjusting her denim blue shirt.
Angela scratched her nose, "It's been a while since I talked to John and Margaret."
Gustav laughed and nodded, yet again, before they went their separate ways, promising that they'll meet again when Angela ends school.
Gustav didn't know why but Angela reminded him of his friends back home in Germany. Right there and then, he frowned. He missed his friends. Bill, Tom and Georg. He wondered if they ever thought of him. He wondered if they missed him. He wondered what happened to him.
Angela cursed slightly when she bumped into a tall looking guy. It didn't take her more than a milli-second to recognize the person that she had bumped into. With that platinum blonde hair, no one can mistook who he was.
"Watch it or I'll make sure you'll pay." Matthew hissed.
As he walked away, Angela's eyes were fixed on him. Well, more of fixed on the little girl beside him.
Why did he bring his younger sister to school?
