Juvenile Delinquent living in my house. And he's hot!
Let me know if i should keep writing. Please comment! Thanks :)"I'm Home!" I yelled as i made my way through the front door. Turning the corner i saw my mom in the kitchen i could smell cookies baking and i could see that she was arranging flowers on the dining room table. Weird. She never made an effort to make our house look this nice, or to even try and bake something remotely edible. She gave up on cooking after she burned two consecutive birthday cakes on my 6th birthday. She gave up and took me out to ice cream instead.
Looking up from her arrangement of tulips and hibiscus flowers i could see the light trace of flour on her face from the cookies. "Oh hey sweetheart!" I noticed that she sounded a little too enthusiastic but took no notice of it. She was always pretending everything was fine around this time of year. November was always the worst month ever since three years ago when my dad left us for some younger prettier girl that was in his graduate class. My dad was an english professor, it made him kind of annoying to live with since he was so into the grammar and crap. I mean my name was even form a famous author. On the bright-side my writing skills were as good as any professor out there and i was only a junior at Stetson High.
"Are you.. are you making cookies mom?" I felt the need to clear up the air even though it was obvious she was. In response she nodded and continued working on the flower arrangement in the front hall.
"Yeah. We'll talk about it over dinner alright?" Confused i just stated my agreement and headed upstairs to work on homework.
What was all that about i wondered. Mom never put this much effort into our appearance unless she was expecting a guest. I mean occasionally grandparents came for a visit but that was pretty much it.

We were eating thai takeout from the restaurant down the street when mom brought up the subject i knew would come eventually.
"Audria, you know that my job means a lot to me." I nodded not sure of where this was going. I knew mom loved her job though i couldn't understand why you'd want to work with juvenile delinquents, but she did. I knew how much she loved her job and how much it meant to her that she could help someone.
"Well, the prison is starting this new program where the employees in my division are assigned a delinquent to take home for the month of November, where they will attend regular school, but be required to attend an anonymous group meeting once a week to track their progress. And i was thinking of signing up for the program." I stared at her. Was she serious? She wanted a criminal in our house. a criminal for crying out loud!
"Uhm... I'm not really sure what to say. Are you sure you want a criminal- sorry, sorry," I knew how much she hated that terms "a delinquent living in our house for a month?"
"I think it would be a great way for them to see that they don't have to live a life of crime the way they were. It'd be great for them and us. Think about how much more experienced and open-minded you'll be. Think about how rewarding it would be to know that you gave someone a home for a month instead of those rotten prison chambers!" well when she put it like that... yeah i still dont see the good part in all of this. But if she says it'll be fine then i trust her.
I shrugged and said "Sure mom. but i'm not sharing my room."
"Oh good! and of course not the guest room is plenty of space. They'll be here tomorrow after school. I have a meeting tomorrow so i won;t be here when you get back but our delinquent will be." With that she got up and started on dished while i retreated back to my room.

School had been long and uneventful and after swim practice for two hours i was exhausted. I made my way to the kitchen and grabbed some iced tea and reluctantly trudged up the stairs to my room to get started on my homework. Walking through my door i flipped the light switch and simultaneously threw y bag, all five freaking pounds of it, onto my bed.
"Holy shit!" spinning around i saw what- excuse me who- had made the noise. Sitting up in my bed rubbing his head was the hottest guy ever to set foot through the front-door. He was shirtless and god did he have a nice stomach, he had the bluest eyes i have ever seen in my life and the darkest hair that was the perfect length. So I screamed. I mean seriously what would you do if there was a gorgeous hunky guy in your bed half-naked and you were the only one home?
Okay, i panicked but seriously.
I was standng with my back pressed up against the wall opposite my bed and my breathing and heart rate was slowly making its way back to normal while i stood there staring at the guy in my bed.
"Uhm.. hey. I'm Luke.Did your mom mention i was coming..." He trailed off as he took in my expression.
"Obviously not. Okay well I'm sorry i'm in your bed your mom said to rest in here because there weren't any sheets on the other bed." Hoping out he provided me with a reallygood view of what i would be seeing for the next month. He was tall too. 'This might not be such a bad thing' i thought as i let my thoughts wander. Oh crap. He would see me every morning. Before i had my make-up on and before i looked decent and oh shit why did it have to be a hot guy that was going to be living in our house? Oh and we shared a bathroom, a fact that i had forgotten but soon remembered as he walked through my bathroom into his room and collapsed on his bed.
Well this was going to be interesting.

As soon as i heard the front door open and close i was running down the stairs eager to get to my mom before she got to far into the house.
"Mom!" i yelled from half-way up the stairs. "Would you like to explain the guyas in living breathing male in the room next to mine? what happened to the girl we were getting?"
"Oh i see you've met luke. Sweetie i never said anything about a girl. I'm sorry it took you by surprise though. Can you do me a favor and help me put away these groceries?" she said raising her arms that were full of brown paper bags. "and hen maybe you can go upstairs and tell Luke that dinner will be ready in 30 minutes? Thanks."
After putting away the groceries i made my way up the stairs and down the hall pausing outside of his door. Much to my disappointment he answered the door right away. I'd been hoping he was asleep.
"Hey. Sorry 'bout earlier" He said with a crooked grin that was so cute and cant even begin to describe.
"oh-uh-uhm yeah. uh, dinne's ready in 30 minutes."Oh was i smooth or what?
"Cool. You wanna come in?" Not knowing how to refuse nicely i just shrugged and he side-stepped to let me through.
The first thing i noticed was how clean it was. I mean it was cleaner than my room. Yeah he'd just gotten here but all his stuff was neatly stacked and folded in the bureau and his shoes were neatly in a row at the base of his bed and the bed was made even though i know for a fact it had been messy two hours ago when he was sleeping. Weird.
He walked over to his bed and sat down patting the space beside him. Cautiously i walked over to where he was and sat down.
"You're room is really neat." oh did i mention that sometimes i have no filter from my brain to my mouth.
He hesitated before saying "yeah. anyways you never told me your name?" Woah someone wanted to change the subject fast. wonder what that was about.
"Oh! yeah I'm Audria." I said mentally cringing at my name. I liked it well enough i guess, but it was always something i was made fun of for.
"That's pretty. Where's it come from?" I looked at him, wasn't sure if he actually wanted to know or if he was just being nice.
"Uhm well my dad's an english professor and he had this obsession with the early English pastoral poets and one of the names a poet used was Audria." what i didn't tell him was that came from a verse dedicated to one of the poet's "coy mistress" It was not something that i was very proud or happy to say my name cam from.
"Cool." He smiled one of those smiles and i accidently dropped the bracelet i had absentmindedly been playing with. We leaned down at the same time to pick it up and our hands brushed each other. I felt a shock go through me. His hand was warm and soft and by the way that he snapped back up i could swear he'd felt it too.
Sitting back up I looked over at him and he was looking at me in a way that i've never been looked at before. We just sat there looking at each other and he slowly lifted his hand and moved it toward my face like he was going to cup it but just then mom called up to us that it was time for dinner and just like that the trance was broken. He stood up and walked to the door not bothering to wait for me. I followed a half a second later wondering what had just happened and trying to remind myself that he was a delinquent, not someone i want to get involved with. But my heart was listening as it thudded away.
