Ciel blinked rapidly, staring with shock at Armelia.
"Umm-- that is... I..." Ciel stumbled over his words, trying to form an answer as his brain scrambled for an answer. Armelia pulled away from him silently.
"You don't have to answer now, Ciel... just promise me, okay?" Ciel nodded quickly, relieved to escape temporarily.
"I'm going away to France tomorrow. I'm sorry Armelia, but you must remain here. It's safer." Armelia smiled cheerfully and nodded.
"Of course, Ciel. And when you get back... promise me you'll answer?"
"Promise." Armelia pecked Ciel's cheek.
"I love you." she whispered in his ear, her warm breath making him shiver.

Armelia stared in horror as the Phantomhive mansion burned. The servants, Maylene, Tanaka, Finny and Bard, all stood around her. Each and every one of them (minus Tanaka) was crying.
"So... you're saying Pluto did this?" Armelia whispered, her eyes glazed with tears.
"Don't worry, Mel! We're all going into London to check out what's happening. Tanaka will stay here with you, where it's safe."
Safe.
"But Finny! What if you guys get hurt?!" Armelia shouted, her eyes wide. Finny just shook his head and ran off with the others. Armelia turned to Tanaka and took his hand.
"Tanaka... I'm not sure I remember what 'safe' means anymore." she said.

Armelia stood in the smoldering ruins of the Phantomhive mansion with Tanaka in the morning sun. The other servants returned, exhausted, and said that they had killed Pluto. They also said.... that they saw Ciel. But if Ciel was back in London, as well as Sebastian, why hadn't he come to see Armelia yet?
Wasn't she important to him?
