Functions and overall quality - Blu-ray discs (duel layered) can hold over 50 GB of information which is around 12 times as much as a regular DVD. To be able to fit a full movie on a DVD disc the picture resolution and audio must be compressed for it all to fit. The result being lower than original quality. An unfortunate fact that Blu-Ray discs have manage to overcome. This elevated disc space has also allowed motion picture producers to include more bonus Functions and additional content material on their Blu-Ray releases, which only adds towards the appeal of the Blu-Ray format.
