Have you ever thought about the war between DVD and Blu-ray? Where will it lead us? I thought I would share some study and experience with both to try and answer. this will hopefully assist if you are thinking about switching to blu-ray. Personally I am pleased with the great old DVD but I've observed some advantages of Blu-ray. Here are the discoveries that I have made.
For starters, their discs have a lot more storage room than DVDs. While normal DVDs have only 4.7 GB of space, their counterpart discs can keep as much as 27 GB - which is 13 hours of standard definition television, or 2-3 hours of HDTV. This obviosly means that you can keep longer or higher quality movies and additional features on Blu-ray.
Another benefit is Blu-ray discs are physically more durable than normal blank CDs or DVDs. This is why they're also ideal for computer data storage and console gaming.
Buying a Blu Ray player (or Blu ray player software) doesn't mean that you will need to replace all your DVDs, as you may have done when converting from VCR to DVD. All Blu-ray players are compatible with DVDs which means that all of your DVD motion pictures will work just fine. Typically Blu-ray players will also upscale which means you DVDs will look better than they did before.
The most noticeable advantage of Blu-ray discs over DVDs is currently being utilized, even though it hasn't been completely explored. This is HD TV. When played on a HD TV the picture will probably be much better than if you were playing a DVD. The audio quality will likely be amazing too.
Overall both DVD and Blu-ray supply a great deal. I am certain they will both continue to improve as well over time and provide more and more for our viewing and playing pleasure. Which ever you prefer is obviously working for you. Why change if it is not broken?
