A person’s feet are one of many best-engineered body parts. Each foot has 33 joints, eight arches, 26 bones, more than a hundred muscle groups, ligaments, and tendons that all band together to distribute weight and allow motion. Unfortunately, lots of people don't pay attention to their feet - until they start to hurt.

A growing number of Americans are dealing with prevalent foot difficulties and more serious foot conditions on a daily basis. The American Podiatric Medical Association fairly recently conducted a study with alarming results - it revealed that some 75% of Americans will undergo some form of foot condition in their lives. Most of these foot-related troubles stem from misuse, and many originate from congenital malformations and problems.
Foot disorders have to be clinically determined and dealt with early on, before they become very painful and incapacitating. Occasionally, some painful foot complaints are already caution signs of even more serious ailments like diabetes, circulatory disorders, and nerve troubles.

Perform a self-check while it’s early. Below you'll find three of the more prevalent foot problems that when taken care of early can save you from a lots of suffering - and possibly even save your life.

Typical foot issues

A. Foot Corns and calluses
Anybody who may have ever worn uncomfortable shoes has probably had corns and calluses. They show up when an excessive amount of pressure is put on the foot’s skin, such as if the bones of the feet press against tight shoes and also press against one another. The majority of people have corns and calluses on the big toes, fifth toes, and metatarsals, where pressure is especially rougher. Luckily, this typical foot concern is simple enough to help remedy. Doctors will order wider shoes or cushion pads to alleviate pressure. In certain advanced cases though, surgery may be required.
B. Infected toenails
Occasionally, the things you do to ‘clean’ your toenails can do more damage than good. Over-clipping and digging deep into the sides can cause nails to throb, enlarge, and become infected. The same happens when you cut your nails incorrectly - the toenail grows into the corner, resulting in an ingrown toenail.
Specialist help is highly recommended when dealing with these infections. Podiatrists typically get rid of the nail spike/s and clean the area. In some cases, you might be required to consider antibiotics. In worst case, you could have to go a simple operation to clear out the jammed area of the toenail for your foot to recover.
C. Athlete's foot
Fungi are attracted to warm and wet areas of the body like the feet - usually between sweaty toes. Unprotected feet can contact fungi from a number of places, like private pools, shared changing areas, etc. The fungi latch onto the foot and causes it to itch, crack and peel off. If untreated during the initial phases, the fungi may even spread to your toenails.
Thankfully, it’s an easy task to deal with athlete’s foot. There are lots of over-the-counter antifungal spays, creams, and powder available. Milder cases can usually be treated by powder. Use spray if the infected foot area is moist along with a cream counterpart should the area is dry.

Retaining Feet Healthy

It takes merely almost no effort to keep up your feet. Here are a few practices you'll be able to develop:
Wear exclusively shoes or boots that fit. Your feet will need room to inhale, so do not cramp them inside stylish but very uncomfortable footwear.

Keep the feet dry. Ensure that the areas between your toes are completely dry before you decide to put socks on. For those who have sweaty feet, consider regularly dabbing them cotton wool. Some experts also report that you avoid wearing the same trainers every day - allow a pair to dry out for 24 hours first before using it again.
Clean the feet on a daily basis. A simple scrub down in the shower does amazing things.
Use clean socks. Never use an unlaundered pair, or you could be enticing fungi.
