Hello.
For those of you who might not have read any of my stuff,I am J-WorldGirl. I write stories and other things and I myself have a seven minutes in heaven quiz that's "successful" among VOCALOID fans.
. . .But this isn't about me,now is it? No. I only mentioned that last part because it was my first, and when I made it,I listened to what people wanted. I think some users on here have forgotten the point of 7MIH quizzes. These are a few things that make me a bit mad when I take a quiz.
[Please don't take this as an insult to any of you, take this whole list as a learning device. Heck, read other ones like this. All of them will usually have the same issues so you can avoid them if you write another or if you want to update the one(s) you have.]
-------------------------------------
1. No pictures.
Now this one isn't really a "piss-me-off" kind of thing,it's just kind of wanted, you know? If a picture's there,I see it as a visual aid; makes the story more realistic when you can put it in your head and imagine it all. If you need help finding said pictures, then use Google Image or Photobucket to search for them.
2.Shortshortshortshort answers.
Again, not something that's really maddening, but would be more pleasant. I might start getting into a result, only to have it end a few lines later. All I'm saying is that results should be longer. I'm not saying write the pair's life stories before the game, then make the actual result an hour to read. . . just make the results a little lengthy. Say,3-5 minutes for a normal person to read, might be shorter for a fast reader. Now if you're going for a story-like result it's ok to have it longer. But if it's just a result, then just make it a little longer than a few sentences.
3. NO DETAIL.
Alright,I can be leniant if the person is trying for the first time, but some writers out there have written for a few years and yet this is all I get:
"You picked so-and-so's item from the hat. They lead you to to closet and they smiled at you. Before you could say something,he/she kisses you. Things started getting hot and then (insert party thrower/hat holder) came in and said time was up. They asked you out and you said yes."
. . .And that's it. Like I said,if you're a first timer in making a quiz like that,it's ok. You're just trying to practice. As for others that have been on here and that's all you can write, then you need to try and make things longer is all. Detail can be your best friend. Don't take too much though,or then we get into "Too Much Detail". Give enough to spark the imagination is all I'm saying.
4. C L A M I N G
Ooh! >.< This one is one of the main things that piss me off! I take these 7MIH quizzes for fun, hoping to pick the character or person that's my favorite. . .only to find the author has claimed them for themselves or for a friend. Now look,I understand you or your friend like this character/person very much,BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN RUINING EVERYONE ELSE'S FUN WHO LIKES THAT PERSON. For example,a while back when I first started here at Quizilla,I decided to take some anime-related 7MIH quizzes for some fun. I got one from Yu Yu Hakusho (which is one of my favorite shows ever) and was hoping to get either Kurama or Hiei. . . =.= The person claimed both for her and her friend. Another was for a band I like (not going to name it). I like the lead singer so I wanted to pick him,but even in the freaking discription, the person had already claimed that guy so "he's not gonna be in here".
I understand having them in the OTHER results, but barging in on someone's time with the one you like just to pull said guy/girl out or to yell at your quiztaker for being there with them? That's just immature.
Hey,I've been part of the claim game before. It was a looong time ago before Nickelodeon bought out Quizilla and there was a great forum. I was part of the "Bishi Claiming Games" but even then it was fair. We had rules to who was up and who wasn't,how long you could wait before you gave them up, and so on. But seriously,if you know that other people are going to try and pick that person, don't ruin their fun. Just give the character/person a result.
5.People Complaining about Lemons.
I'm not saying I'm a fan,but sometimes in a weird way,Lemons can help the development of the story. If they're in the one I'm taking,I just read through it and deal with it; I don't report them for it.
Seriously, what's up with that? LOOOOOOOOOONG AGO before Quizilla became Nick's site,no one had a problem with it. There weren't any of the "Lemon Wars" of those for and against those kinds of results or stories. We just got along and if you didn't like them, you just ignored them and moved on. Not today. I bet half of you would report a lemon in an anime-related MIH quiz but would be just fine with one of your precious little Justin Beaver. (Oh,did I say his last name wrong? Sorry~ >) )
I think it's stupid how so much changed after Nickelodeon got the site. It's not like their people are watching our every move. Even if that stupid thing about banning stories with or even the word "death" is true and goes through,it'll still be there. Same as the lemons. It doesn't matter how much someone bitches about it,they'll still lurk around.
6.OOC-NESS
"OMG,SASUKE IS SO SWEET TO ME~!" "RIKU IS A SWEETIE TOO~! <333" "EDWARD WOULD LEAVE BELLA FOR ME!" "JUSTIN SAW ME AT A CONCERT AND HE FELL IN LOVE WITH ME AT FIRST SIGHT!" "I'M THE ONLY HUMAN SESSHY LOVES!"
*twitch*. . . *twitch*. . . THIS. THIS is another thing that gets me. I understand a slight case of OOC to make the story work, but NOT ANY OF THAT ABOVE. Sasuke is an emo little bitch who has fangirl issues, Riku is a dark person who may have some slight romantic qualities but not prince charming, I hate Twilight but I know that Edward would never leave Bella,I hate Beiber but I do know you have to be more than just a fan for someone that famous to fall for you,and Sessomaru would never fall for a human like that (seriously,I know Rin is a little human girl that he lets travel with him,but she had some time with Sessy and helped him before he started to soften up on her).
Please, for my sake and others, read a little more on the characters and people before making a quiz with them.
-----------------------------------------
I think that's about it. As I said at the beginning, please don't see this as something offensive, see it as a person's opinion on such a popular trend and take note of it. I did that with my VOCALOID Minutes in Heaven quiz, I took note of things people liked and didn't like and put that into it. :') I'm happy to say it has many hits and I'm grateful for every view~
There's many things like this rant on here. Just look up 7MIH Rants or just guides to help you make them.
