The first task came along and Mae couldn’t wait to see the tactic Viktor said he had come up with. It seemed as though when he talked about it that it would be quite a grand thing. Getting into her Gryffindor routing outfit she knew that she couldn’t cheer on Viktor properly. Walking out of Potions with Gloria, Mae kept her books close to her chest. She hadn’t seen Viktor all day, well more like all week.

“So Mae who are you routing for?” Gloria joked around as they walked slowly up the dark stairs.

“Hogwarts of course,” she answered with a smile. Her hair was a complete mess because she kept having nightmares about Viktor. His soul would be taken away from her heart in her nightmares. Every time he would compete in a task they grew farther apart in her dreams which led to them dying out.

“Why not Viktor?” Gloria chirped.

“I don’t know,” Mae whispered.

“There’s clearly a reason Mae. What’s wrong?” Gloria looked into Mae’s eyes and decided to sit her down.

“I just don’t want to lose him in anyway, I love Viktor.”

“Well you won’t lose him because I know he loves you.” Gloria smiled resting her hand on her best friends shoulder.

“Gloria, I have been having dreams that within each task, I am going to further lose him. Do you think it’s true? I mean I know that not all relationships last but I can’t even stand to think about losing him.”

“Mae, I don’t know, whatever happens, know that I will be here.” Clasping her friends hand in hers she gave a false smile. After the extensive talk they made their separate ways as Mae made her way up to the Gryffindor common room and got dressed to watch the task. Leaving Mae to herself she looked at an old photo she found in her trunk. There were her parents, and her younger sister.

“Oh Daisy how I miss you,” she whispered as she traced her finger’s lightly over her sisters face.

“Come on Mae let’s get going,” Ginny came in and pulled her out. Mae also told Ginny and Hermione the dilemma she was having so Ginny told her a little secret. That Mae can go into the tent right now and tell him how she feels. After denying three times Ginny finally pushed Mae towards the tents. Mae made her way through each one, trying to find the competitor’s tent until she finally found Rita Skeeter exiting one.

Mae tried to keep quiet so Rita would not follow her and she figured it worked. Peering into the tent she found Viktor polishing off one of his gloves. The concentration in his face was so overpowering that she could feel it in the air.

“Zdrasti Viktor.” Viktor looked from his glove and smiled lovingly. Walking over to him he hugged her and held her close.

“You have learned hello in Bulgarian,” Viktor smiled.

“Yes, I came here to tell you I love you and I want you to always know that.” She clenched his hand and she could feel her eyes watering up just at the thought of losing him.

“I already knew that Mae, because I love you too. No one has ever made me feel the way you have, I have never been able to feel like a person, only a puppet. In your arms I feel like a human, and when we read together I travel to a world unlike any other.” He smiled and held her close into his chest rocking back and forth. Stroking her hair he could feel her tears staining his cloak.

Before Viktor could ask Mae what was wrong Rita Skeeter had come in trying to take a snapshot of their ‘heart wrenching’ moment.

“Leave, this tent is only for friend’s and competitors.” Viktor shielded Mae behind him and looked down sternly into Rita Skeeter’s eyes. Giving a small laugh she left and Mae said her goodbyes to Viktor until he pulled her in for a kiss. Wrapping her arms around his neck she pulled away and put her forehead against his.

Finally leaving she made her way to the stands and watched the competitors. Cedric Diggory had done phenomenally which sent most of Hogwarts cheering, except Slytherin for some reason. Once Fleur had gone up all the men moved forward in their seats, ‘interested’ in the task completely. As she retrieved her egg later on she finally gave a small little curtsy.

Next was Viktor’s turn and most people from Gryffindor smiled and locked eyes on her when she moved up in her seat. Looking around she gave a roll of the eyes and continued to watch her boyfriend. It felt as though Fred and George would come up behind her at any second.

Viktor moved rock behind rock until he did a curse against the dragon and it fell backwards crashing onto half of her actual eggs. The crowd let out a gasp and I could see in his face that he was a tad upset about the lost points but he quickly snapped out of it and grabbed the golden egg. Climbing onto the tallest rock he showed his egg to all and we cheered him on.

The fact that even though it isn’t our house, or team, or school, or however you wanted to go about it the fact that they stayed alive was good enough. Viktor looked for me in the crowds who were standing but I had stayed seated. Sort of sneaking away from everyone else I made my way back into the tent and gave looked into the tent.

“Viktor when are you going to tell her,” Krast asked as Viktor sat on one of the beds.

“I don’t know,” Viktor whispered as he looked out onto the floor.

“You should tell her it’s not fair for her not to know,” Viktor continued to stare at the ground while Krast protested for telling her something.

“But Krast it was a while ago and it was a mistake,” Viktor protested against telling ‘her’.

“Viktor she needs to know that you cheated on her.” In her heart Mae started to sink. Hitting the tent and running she ran the fastest she could to the one place where she would be alone. Running to the Forbidden Forest she kept her wand at the ready and waited for night to fall.

“Krast I can’t tell Audrey that I had cheated on her last year with Krystal, we are over so what does it matter now? I finally found someone I want to spend eternity with,” Viktor smiled holding onto Krast’s shoulders.

“No, you need to tell her through owl.” Krast sternly said.

“Fine but can we please go find Mae, I want to tell her how I won the egg,” he said with a smile as he shook Krast’s shoulders. Nodding in agreement they went to go find Mae but somehow they couldn’t. When the full moon came out, or well the first night of the cycle Mae’s breathing became heavy. Looking out from the gate and into the rest of the forest she watched as she transformed another night into the beast she was.

Howling at the moon she ran off into the forest to be secluded and hide herself from everyone in the castle. Viktor who was worried did not see Mae at dinner either. Seeing Fred and George he walked over to them.

“Oi, ello Viktor Krum, where’s your girlfriend?” Henry laughed from a distance.

“Shove off Henry,” Cedric Diggory said from a distance. Hiding his face he just looked at his food and Viktor nodded thank you to Cedric.

“Hello, have you two seen Mae?” Asked Viktor worriedly.

“Last we checked right after you won she went to go to your tent and give you a congratulations or two,” winked Fred to George.

“That is strange she never came into the tent, unless,” putting two and two together he looked down to the ground in angst. “Thank you guys,” Viktor appreciated their help and walked over to Krast.

“We have a problem Krast,” Viktor said as Krast lowered a drumstick.

“What would that be?” Krast asked in his native tongue.

“Mae thinks I cheated on her.” Viktor and Krast went to go find a Professor and the only one Viktor knew was Dumbledore. Finding his way to the gray old man he informed him of the situation and that Mae was nowhere to be found.

“This is not good indeed,” Dumbledore whispered. “What moon is in the sky?” Albus wondered while looking into a chalice firmly. Viktor told Krast to go check and when Krast came back he said the moon was full.

“Why does this have to be asked?” Viktor was using broken English again and Dumbledore shook his head.

“Because she is a registered werewolf and the fact she thinks you cheated on her means she is in that Forbidden Forest,” Albus pointed out towards the forest. Looking at Krast, Viktor was caught in surprise because she had never told him.

“We have to go find her,” Viktor said as he stormed out. Without objections they both went to the Forbidden Forest and Albus ordered Hagrid to tag along behind them.
