~There's No Such Thing As... Harmless Romance in Hogwarts~ Part Four -Thestrals-

She broke her gaze with Harry, "I-I dunno!" she stuttered, realising what was actually happening, "I didn't mean to! I mean it just happened, I just walked in, and saw Harry, and he smiled and his eyes sparkled and-and-and-", she couldn't finish, as that confident feeling she had, had started to fade. As it did, most of the guys managed to get a grip on themselves and all of the guys who had been peering through the door got back to what they were doing before.

Ron was first to come around, "What the bloody hell just happened?" shaking Harry's shoulder as he was still gazing at Raine.

She blushed again.

"What the fuck are you doing Ron?!" Harry snapped at Ron, as Ron had taken to slapping him across the face.

"You were looking kinda spaced out", Ron said, smiling innocently.

"Sorry, that was my fault, I don't normally get like that... I don't know what triggered it..." apologised Raine, smiling sheepishly.

"Why? What did you do?" asked Harry, still looking rather baffled about the whole situation.

Blushing, Raine looked at the ground unable to explain. Hermione started to explain what had happened, "Well, something triggered her veela 'powers' and - "

"But I thought you said that you didn't use your veela powers!" interrupted Ron.

"I didn't! It just... well... happened naturally" she replied.

Ron looked disbelieving, "Surely it can't just happen"

Harry, who had been sitting there quietly, half-shouted, half-accused Ron, "Can't you ever believe anything anybody tells you? Without any evidence?!"

Hermione had a pained expression on her face; it looked like she had to put up with this happening quite a lot. Before they could carry the argument any further the train jolted to a sudden stop; causing Raine to catapult off of your seat.

Ron and Harry stopped fighting, and they were now looking at Raine lying in a heap on the floor.

"Fine, I'll be the gentleman and help her up" Hermione sighed, giving her a hand up.

Harry shook himself out of the daze that had just overcome him, "Oh sorry!"

"Oh it's OK," responded Raine, smiling at him, "I'm such a ditz" (hahaha! I hate that word with a passion... grrr....)

They all filed off the train. As they started towards the school gates Raine noticed the carriages being lead by the thestrels.

She looked around to ask somebody what they were, but Ron and Hermione were ahead by far, and Harry was walking just a little way behind her. Thinking that it would be a good excuse to talk to Harry she decided to ask him, "What are those things pulling the carriages?"

Harry stared at her, "You can see the thestrels?"

She nodded in reply.

Harry looked surprised, "Who have you seen die?"

"I'd rather not talk about it right now, Harry" she answered remorsefully.

Harry just glared at her, "You think I don't know how it feels?" he snapped.

This outburst from Harry had totally caught Raine off guard.

My god! He doesn't half get upset quickly... she thought, remembering how quickly he had been to reacting to Ron and herself before.

"Harry! I never said that! I know you've seen people die... but so have I" she insisted, "I just don't want to talk about it right now, if that's alright with you?!"

Looking rather shocked by Raine's comeback , "Err, sorry Raine, it's just..." he looked down at the ground, "I'm sorry" he said, looking into her eyes, "you do realise that if you ever feel you have to talk about it..." he trailed off, walking further ahead of her.

Grabbing his arm, she pulled him a round to look at her, his green eyes piercing into hers, she gave him a smile, a smile of thanks, she pulled him closer to him, giving him a hug, whispering in his ear, "Harry that means a lot to me... Thank you".

When she pulled away, a tingling sensation replaced everywhere that Harry had touched.
