This past week has been stressful for me, but luckily today is Friday and I’m no longer stressed out. At work we’ve finished all the holiday related things that we had to do and now we’re just relaxing until the New Year. Swimming has still continued to push me to my limits but I know it’s for the best. The only good thing that has come out of this is that I now have abs and they look so good if I do say so myself. Last but not least, I’ve gotten all my Christmas shopping done and the presents have been shipped out to their rightful recipients. I’ll even tell you what I got everyone.

For my parents, my brothers and I all chipped in and got them a trip to this nice resort in the wine country of California because we know they had been planning on taking this trip so we decided we would help them out. For my oldest brother Derek and his wife Hannah, I decided to get them some cookware. After all they are newlyweds and what better gift for newlyweds than cookware. I decided to get Brian a new golf club because when he isn’t playing for the Buccaneers he’s at one of Tampa’s numerous golf courses. Now for my favorite brother, Collin, I got him a couple of concert tickets because it seems like he is always discovering new music and then finding ways to go to concerts.

Now onto what I got my Texas friends. You know how if you go to a small-sized school how you have those close friends that you have grown up with? Well that’s what I have, there are about 10 of us and even though we all didn’t go to the same college we’re still pretty close. Now each of us has our own personal favorite Dallas-based professional sports team (i.e. FC Dallas, Stars, Mavericks, Rangers, and the Cowboys). So what we always do is buy a small gift that has to deal with whatever your favorite team is for me it’s always shirts, because you can’t go wrong with a shirt.

Alexis and Megan have kind of taken me under their wing ever since I first moved to Vancouver so I got them gift certificates to this really nice spa. Kesler was kind of like a big brother to me despite us kind of having something going on back when I first moved here so I go him this video game that he wanted.

Now we get to Caleb, Ryan, and Josh who I have officially considered my best friends along with Alexis, Megan, and my brother Collin. Since I’ve know Caleb ever since middle school I got him a new paintball gun since I know he’s crazy about that as well as a scrapbook of all the crazy antics we got into. Since Ryan is a huge Maple Leafs fan, I got him a portrait of the old Maple Leaf Gardens since I know he loves that place and loved going there as a kid. It was even signed by some famous former Leafs players which I know he’ll love. Just like Ryan, Josh is a huge sports fan only he loves the Red Sox. So just like Josh I got him a picture of Fenway Park that was also signed by famous Red Sox players.

Speaking of Ryan and Josh we decided that we should do something for a family less fortunate than us. Well one day while I was doing a community appearance for the Canucks dancers we helped out with this charity that helps out with less fortunate families. What they do is give food, clothes, toys, and anything else to families in need. Well I told Ryan and Josh about this charity and they seemed just as passionate as I was about it. So we started volunteering for it whenever we could. Well we found out that during the holidays people are able to pick out families and help them have a memorable Christmas. So we decided that we were going to do that. We decided to help out the Mathieu family, which consisted of the parents and their two sons and two daughters. We knew the sons liked wrestling so we got them some wrestling action figures as well as some clothes with their favorite wrestling players. For the girls we got them some make-up/dress up kits as well as some Barbie dolls. Even though the parents said we didn’t have to get them anything we decided to get them a gift card to this nice restaurant and a gift certificate to get a couple’s massage because we know that having that many kids could be stressful. We even had plans on delivering the gifts to them before we headed up to where we were staying for Christmas.

Finally we get to Robert. He was possibly the hardest person that I had to shop for. I mean what do you get someone who can practically afford to buy anything they want? I thought about this really hard and I remembered what Robert had told Jessica and Sam when we were babysitting them. So after searching for what seemed like an eternity I finally found the albums that Robert had wanted. I felt like Robert deserved more for a couple of albums so I decided that I would also buy him a necklace. It wasn’t really anything special or extravagant, just a plain sliver necklace that I thought he would like.

Now onto what everyone is doing for Christmas. Robert wanted to stay here and celebrate it with me but I knew that he hadn’t seen his family in a while so I thought it was best if he go there. In fact I told him that he didn’t go and visit his family that I would break up with him right on the spot. Of course I was joking but he finally agreed, especially since I told him that I already sent his Christmas gifts to his parents. After that he asked me what I was doing for Christmas and that’s when I told him that me, Ryan, and Josh were going to rent a chalet up in Whistler and spend Christmas there since none of us were really able to go home for the holidays.

So here I am at work and instead of working I am now tracking all my gifts to see if they actually made it to wherever they are supposed to be sent to. I was so busy tracking my gifts that I didn’t realize that Brian had come up behind me.

“Tracking orders Aubrey, what does that have to do with public relations,” Brian said which caused me to jump out of my seat.

“Normally I would come up with some excuse but I don’t have one. Besides I want to make sure everyone gets my gifts on time.”

“I guess that’s an okay excuse. I can’t wait until this season is over. I heard all the guys are kind of tired of wearing Santa hats.”

“At least we didn’t make them dress up as Santa. I feel bad for the guy who has to dress up as Fin. It’s bad enough he has to wear to wear that hot costume now we’re making him wear a Santa suit. Maybe we should get him a Christmas gift so he doesn’t hate us so much.” That caused Brain to laugh. “So are you going to the bonfire tonight,” I asked him.

“That’s tonight,” I just nod. “I don’t know. I had planned on spending a nice evening at home with my boyfriend.”

“That’s too bad, your Twilight love are coming tonight.”

“Seriously,” he said and you could tell he was holding in his excitement.

“Yeah, besides it’s probably going to be the biggest bonfire of the year seeing as it’s our last bonfire of the year. Plus I think we’re burning some Maple Leaf memorabilia since the Canucks are playing them tomorrow.”

“Not to mention you being thrown in the lake.”

“Why does everyone think I’m getting thrown in the lake? They could throw someone else”

“You’re just an easy target. Just think next year, and by next year I mean next hockey season, you won’t be the one they throw in the lake anymore.”

“So I have to wait until October. Man this sucks.”

“Well I’ll make you feel better. I’ll stop by but I won’t stay that long.”

“I don’t think I’ll be that long either. My guppies have that last swim meet of this year, and I’m giving them their gifts.” We talked some more and we got the okay to leave. So we went to get something to eat and then I had to leave straight from the restaurant to the dance studio since we had dance practice.

So I know that I tried out for the team kind of as a joke but I’ve been doing this since August and I still think it’s a joke. In fact if it wasn’t for the fact that I’m able to see the games for free, get to make numerous appearances out in the public, and that I’ve made numerous friends by being a Canucks dancer I would quit. The dances aren’t as challenging as I thought they would be and most of the times we don’t even dance, unless you just start making up your own dances in your section like I normally do. Anyways here we are learning this new routine that we’re actually going to be performing for tomorrow. It’s an okay dance, but not something I would have preferred to do. Not to mention some of the moves we’re doing are somewhat dangerous and I wouldn’t be shocked if someone sprained their ankle after performing the dance. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

After dance practice Alexis decided to ride with me and we went to pick up Megan. Once we picked Megan up I got a text from my friends saying that I needed to pick up some marshmallows. So we went to the store and picked about 10 marshmallow packets. In fact, when we went to check out, the cashier just looked at us like we were crazy for buying only marshmallows. Come to think about it, I would too. What reason do you buy 10 marshmallow packets and nothing else?

So on the way to the bonfire all we so is talk about what we think is going to happen besides me trying to avoid being thrown into the lake. It started out just talking about who Ryan and Josh would potentially hook up with and we all came to the conclusion they wouldn’t hook up with anyone tonight. They would wait until after the game tomorrow to make me suffer by bringing girls home. We then started talking about how Robert and I.

“I still can’t believe you invited Robert to the bonfire,” Alexis said.

“Why wouldn’t invite him? I mean he’s been to the bonfires before, what makes this one any different.”

“The fact that this will be the last time you’ll see him due to him going home. You would think you two would do something romantic,” Megan said.

“So bonfires can’t be romantic,” I asked them.

“Not when you’re going out with Robert Pattinson.”

“Or when you’ll be hanging out with nothing but diehard Canucks fans,” Alexis added.

“So this would be a bad time saying that I kind of invited the rest of the Twilight cast to come along as well,” once I said that they both groaned. “What was that for, the last time I checked you two were totally Team Jacob.”

“It’s not that, Aubrey. You inviting Robert’s fellow cast mates solidifies the fact that tonight won’t be the slightest bit romantic.”

“Wait, Robert even suggested that they come along. Trust me, I will make sure that Robert and I will spend some quality couple time together before he has to leave.”

“Whatever you say,” both Alexis and Megan say at the same time. We don’t anything else about that. Instead we turn on the radio and just start singing. After a couple of songs, I stop singing and think about how I can get Robert away from everybody at the bonfire so I can spend some alone time with him before he leaves for the holidays.
