"Hey guys," I said as I walked back into the group. "This is Andrew."
The guys stared at him coolly and we all stood in awkward silence until Alex caught my S.O.S look I was sending her.
"I'm Alexandra, but you can call me Alex," she said; they shook hands.
"Nice to meet you, Alex," Andrew said, smiling; I saw Michael roll his eyes. Andrew turned to Vince.
"Sorry about your drink, my friends were acting like jerks," Vince's expression changed.
"It's okay, no harm done," Vince said, smiling.
"Andrew!"
We all turned around and saw a group of guys. Andrew saw looked at them, then at me.
"I gotta go, but do you wanna come with me?" He asked hopefully.
"Umm... where?"
"My house, we have to go now 'cause we have to drive Darren home he has really strict parents but Tommy, Ben and Jack are all coming over to my place."
"Oh... Andrew," I said, choosing my words carefully, "no offence, but -"
"It's dark outside and you don't know me well enough to trust me inside a car?" He asked with a smile. I nodded. "Don't worry, I understand completely. Maybe we could hang out some other time though?"
I put my head down and pinched the bridge of my nose. I thought of the possibilities of what could happen if I went with them:
Disadvantages :
1 They're psychotic murderers and will rape and kill me as soon as we're out of screaming audibility, (a phrase which here means 'when we're so far no one will be able to hear my screams). [Me: and yes, I totally just quoted Lemony Snicket. Haha. Losers. :p]
2 They could be psychotic murderers and kidnap me, ask for a ransom, them kill me regardless of weather they got the money or not.
I could go on and on...
Advantages :
1 I have a great time and make great - hot - new friends.
"My house is a couple blocks away; could I just pick up something?" I asked Andrew.
"Yeah, sure," he said happily.
"Okay," I agreed, "hold on one sec." He nodded and turned and grabbed Alexandra's wrist gently and dragged her a few feet away.
"Can you do something for me, Alex?" I asked her; she seemed uneasy.
"Uhm, sure... what d'ya need?"
"I want you to watch me get into the car, and as soon as we pull out of the parking lot, call me on my cell," I said quietly. Alex frowned.
"Why?"
"So incase they do anything to me, you'll hear me scream," I replied with a smirk. Even though there was humor in my voice, I don't think Alex or I thought it was a laughing matter.
I'm overreacting, idiot. I'll be fine. Said the devil on my left shoulder.
But I'm start for taking precautions... the angel on my right shoulder reminded the devil.
I gave myself a mental head slap and the two figures disappeared then focused my attention back to Alex. She still looked worried, so I pulled her into a long hug.
"Don't worry, Lex," I reassured her, "I'll be fine. We're both overreacting." She smiled, winked then nodded and I turned and walked over to the guys.
"Alright," I said, "let's go." All 5 boys smiled then all pushed each other into the car.
