And with that, Draco grabbed me by the wrists and twisted my arms behind my back, pushing me out of the study.

"Let go of me!" I yelled, once the door to the study had closed behind us. To my surprise, Draco listened to me and dropped my arms at once. I decided to ignore him and examine the bracelets on my wrists. They were completely solid, without any keyhole or seams. Draco noticed that I was looking for signs of weakness in them and smirked. "My father is the only one who can take those off of you, so you might as well not even try to get them off. And I doubt that they will come off until we go back to Hogwarts, so you get to wear them for almost a month, and most likely ever time you come back for holidays, until we can trust you." He paused for a second to let this sink in; the fact that Lucius and Draco completely controlled my life, just wonderful. "Come with me," he said, "I want to try something else." I really didn't want to go with him, in fact I just wanted to go up to my room and relax for a while; these last two days had really gotten to me. But I didn't listen to my inner thoughts, and despite the fact that I didn't want to go, I followed anyways. We walked out of the house and into the backyard. Draco led me to the swimming pool, near the deep end. "Stand at the edge of the pool," he said. "Why?" I asked, "so you can push me in?" But nonetheless, I listened to him and walked over to the edge of the pool, curling my toes around the rim. Why was I listening to him, I wondered. Did he have me under the impervious curse, and I didn't know about it? "Now put out your arms." Again I followed the command of his voice, even though I didn't know why. "And fall into the pool." Now there was no way I was going to get wet, I was fully clothed and everything. I fought the urge to just fall face first into the pool like Draco wanted me to, and attempted to take a step back. I ended up winning the losing battle, and ended up in the pool, but because I had attempted to take the step back, I grazed my head painfully on the side of the pool, almost causing myself to black out upon entering the water. I surfaced and made my way to the side of the pool, intending to pull myself out. But something stopped me, none other then Draco himself. "No, you can't get out here. You have to swim to the shallow end. You can get out there." I really wanted to get out, because the cold water on the hot August day had shaken me up quite a bit. I didn't bother arguing, at this point I wasnt sure if I even could, and decided that it would just be easier to swim to the other end of the pool.

When I reached the other end of the pool, I made my way to the stairs, where strangely enough, Draco was standing there with a towel. When I stepped out, he wrapped it around me and gently guided me towards a lounge chair. He sat me down and crouched in front of me. He looked as if he wanted to tell me something, but with the evil glint in his eyes, I didn't know if I wanted to hear it. "Do you remember when you were asking about the ring I gave you?" he asked me, smirking his infamous smirk. "Of course I do," I said, rather harshly. "It was only yesterday that I started to wonder about it." "Well," Draco said, dragging out what he was going to tell me. "You just jumped into the pool, when you clearly didn't want to. And then you obeyed whatever I said. Now I highly doubt that you had a sudden change of heart and decided to obey me completely, because if that were the case, you would not have smashed your head while going into the pool. No, what has happened is that that ring has taken control of you. When I put it on you, only a few days ago, it began to work its magic on you. It worked rather quickly because it is on your ring finger, which has a vein that connects directly to your heart. The dark magic in the ring has been working itself into you, making it so that I can control you. You may not want to do what I tell you to, but you always will, and the longer you wear the ring, the quicker you will obey me. And as an added bonus, I can read your thoughts, not too easily, but I can pick up the really strong ones at the moment; perhaps the others will get clearer as time passes. And the best part is that you can't take the ring off, only the person who puts the ring on can take it off, and they must do it willingly. I'd like to see you try to hex me to make me take it off though, especially right now, because it would hit you so much harder then you intended it to hit me. Isn't life just grand?" he asked, finally finishing his long rambling monologue. Before I could respond, or even take in all that he had said, he leaned down and kissed me roughly on the lips.

I pushed him off of me; I couldn't deal with all that had happened in the last few days. I thought up the quickest spell I could and shot it in his direction. I was instantly hit with a force much larger than that of which I had exerted. I doubled up as blue sparks shot around my wrists and finally fell off the chair and onto the poll deck. I was gasping for my breath and wincing in pain, but I could still hear Draco laugh. "I told you what would happen if you tried to curse me," he said, and although I could not see his face, I could hear the smile in his voice. I looked up and spat at him. My spit was bloody from the pain I had just experienced. I would have to remember to either not cast spells, or at least tone it down a little. Then with the last bit of energy I had, I slapped him across the face. "You little wench!" Draco cried, clearly shocked by what I had just done. He grabbed me by the hair and lifted my face up towards him. I could see the anger in his eyes, and felt it even more when he backhanded me. He looked as me with sheer malice, and all I could do was cower. Then he dropped me, turned around and stalked off into the mansion. I couldn't believe everything that I had heard, and everything that had happened today. I also still couldn't believe the way that I was acting. Maybe it had something to do with the ring that I was wearing. Perhaps while it was trying to change me, it was causing side effects that made me disobey where I would normally comply. I was so confused and so rundown that I starting crying while still sitting on the pool deck. I eventually passed out due to the exhaustion of being hit by Draco but also from hexing myself unintentionally so many times.
